Hey i hear all the time of paladins who don't heal or don't voke or just plain out don't tank at all. so i though i'd make a thread where people could post people who are good or bad tanks to let everyone else know who to watch out for and be warned if they just totally suck ***, maybe this will save a few people's lives XP. so please post em. I can't post any atm cuz i'm a 56 pld myself so i really don't know who sucks and not lol. O almost forgot please add their level if you remember, thanx.

There are alot of really good paladins on our server, that i know of at least. As for the higher lvl paladins... Soraan, Godson, Demetrios, Jonathan, Fire, Zicrod, Sojourn, Triumph (well, not anymore, he quit), Divinity, Lothar, Igneous, Maury, Belmont, and hell even sairyu was a good pld. As for the other pld...if i can remember... Geometyr sry if i spelled your name wrong was really good when i partied with him on my whm. There are tons more i bet too, i just haven't partied with ya or i can't remember your name, and I heard Corddy sucks!!! (just kidding :P)

Yeah, Algar(64) and Darkvlade(61) are two good Paladins. Just be careful of Algar, his Invincible is broken. =p

being a pld, i can't really tell, but i've heard horror stories of plds around 40-50 atm that have difficulty activating their voke macro.

{thread-jack disclaimer}

if you were only to choose one, which pld would you pick?

1. technically proficient pld
vokes timely, establishes hate in an organized manner, uses everything within the means of a pld/war to take the hate of the mob as long as the mob is within the specified lvls that the pt can handle. possessed of good gear. when met with a mob that is outside of the specified lvl range however, either because of aggro or a puller's folly, this pld would be the first to run.

2. a pld
not necessarily the best pld technically speaking. loses hate once in awhile, but no real deaths happen. have enough vokes and uses enough of the pld/war abilities to establish hate. possessed of average pld gear. will take on any mob so long as the pt is engaged. first to meet the mob head on to protect the rest, first to invincible when things go wrong, and last to leave a place till everyone is safe.

There are always times when a macro will just fail to go off. Sometimes it's really not the Paladin's fault the provoke was really late. Graphical lag on the computer or network latency can stop a macro from working properly right in the middle of it. I have had times where my provoke message (which I later removed because of the PLD guide recommendation) would appear but provoke wouldn't go off, without any notification like "Unable to use job ability" or "Time Left: (0:00:xx)". It just wouldn't work. It ticks me off!

In case some the PLDs here didn't know this:

There are occasions when your job abilities WILL fail. Furthermore, they will not fail only to what MaddieCB speaks of, but they will fail due to status effects that you currently have.

One of the most common status effect is petrify and paralyze. If you have one of these ailments, PLEASE do yourself a favor and DON'T use your job ability until your whm can remove them. If you do use that ability while impaired, you will not use your ability, and you will use up your timer.

Oh last week i was in a pt with this Galka PLD, there was a RNG too, and this Galka was keeping all the hate so well, that with the rng we were telling the pally to lose a little bit of hate, just to give him time to get some Cure IIIs on.

But it was almost impossible to take the hate away from him, on one ocassion i did the following: Stun > Provoke > Berserk > Last Resort > Souleater > Nightmare Scythe. The crawler turned on me, hit me twice, and turned back to keep hitting the Galka lol. The Rng tried his best aswell to relieve the pally a little bit, with Barrage and all that stuff, but the result was the same as me.

At the end i just congratulated the Galka for being such a good pally, though i'd say that losing a little bit of hate sometimes, help you when the HP is falling below 200 lol

Limbripper is a good Paladin. He is a Galka and seems to get a perverse joy from pain. Got to give credit where it is due. =>

I must say that I can agree with what everyone syas here. I have talked to Darkvlade and I know he is a good PLD. Also if you see Zenes (57PLD) Around loooking for PT then GET HIM! He is a kick *** PLD and my mentor for the first 30 levels I took my PLD to.

Also if I ever invite you to a PT with me do not hesitate to accept. I ALWAYS put together a kick *** PT and I never PT without making sure that I am using all the propper equipment to insure the best quality of my abilities.

And as for doing my job? Its too easy to max out hate so a word to the unlearned PLDs out there - "WTF?" LoL

What a timely thread ><

(sorry in advance for the mini-book)

I've had to unfortunate opportunity to get to party with one particularly bad PLD twice now. (I'm not blasting someone on here, but if you wish to know the name, just send me a tell.) In the first party (I think he was around level 45 then), he spent the majority of the time whining about not wanting to die again, and then proceeded to logoff after a death. I chalked it up to him having a bad night (or me being perhaps spoiled by good PLDs), but kept his name in the back of my mind as someone to try to avoid partying with.

Last night as I was looking for a party, I noticed that he was also looking - and was the only tank lfp. I decided to wait around for an invite rather than try to start one with this particular PLD (now level 50). I finally get an invite, and after I accepted, I saw that he was the PLD. I really wanted to get to level 51 so I could start kicking things :) so I stayed with the party.

With the exception of this PLD, the party was quite good. However, he was just . . . bad. I don't think he used provoke at all, only Flash. I ended up almost dying because he would not provoke off of me (Our great mages didn't let me though). After the battle in which I almost died, he just logged out. He may have gotten disconnected, but it appeared that he logged. So we ended up waiting for him to relog and then had to find a new tank. I ended up having to leave the party after that.

Anyways... I'm just kinda tired of seeing people reach higher and higher levels and not be able to do their job - just because they have a "in demand" job.

As for Enthuz's threadjack - I'll take #2 over #1 any day. When I think of a good PLD, it's someone who puts the party over themselves. They know when its time to retreat, but not before the rest of the party is headed to safety.

; ; Nobody loves me. Oh well I'm only level 40 so I haven't really made a name for myself. So just to name a paladin that I haven't partied with yet, but has helped me out with part of Rank 5, and all of Rank 4.

Takedown. If you read this, I want you to know I consider you a good paladin.

Thank You.

wow. i begin to wonder whether it's also cos he was galkan. >< i'm beginning to find, now more than ever, that certain races really do make better somethings or others. e.g. an elvaan anything bashes for more dmg; a mithran anything misses less; a taru mage has loads more mp and oftentimes slightly more dmg due to higher int. humes don't really suit any job as well, although they aren't seriously handicapped in anyway.

Algar knows I was better than him though :D J/K Algar, but we are both kick ***.

I think that Orikenus guy is the best DRK I've ever partied with...

...oops wrong thread. Smiley: wink2

As for good PLD, I'd have to say Chinqlinq, Kenjis, Zerox, Whiteye, and of course most of the ones that have already been named.
