Gather around folks, it's time to tell a story about the origin of Chinqlinq the PLD.

Lately I've been getting a lot of people telling me that they feel racist when they call me "Chinq," so I've decided to tell everyone about my catchy name. A long long time ago, in a distant parallel universe called reality, my friends and I were trying to come up with some type of screen name from AOL...yes, everyone had AOL at some point in their lives, don't deny it!

So my friends and I stumbled on this page called, Korealink.com, which I'm not sure if it exsists anymore, but its just some regional page for people to talk shi!t about eachother, and how their lives are. So we were like, Chinalink! but my friend got more creative and named me Chinqlinq. From that point on, I've been known as Chinqlinq. If you want to derive some sort of definition for catchy name, it means "Chinese Connection" or something nerdy like that.

Anyway, that's my name..what's yours mean? ^^

I remember being partied with you and I just called you "chi"... but funny enough, people feel racist for using "chinq" but that's the way it is used in your name anywho... lmao

Krem's name originate's from ICP's Big Bird and Kermit Stoned skit... I reminded several friends several years ago of Kermit (a few similarities when high). Any who, soo high, Big Bird ends up calling Kermit Kremit, then my friends made the nick stick.

Nebz is short for Nebula (aka Nebberz, Momma-Kitty, *****). This is a cat rescued from the side of the road by my ex gf. After the cat was released from the vet, my ex took her home and a few days later she was in heat and hittin up the neighborhood. She gave birth to 7 kittens, but two were still born and another died a day later. I gave two kittens away and kept the other two (Tearyn, also a mule name, and Macho, a female cat scared of anything), but my roommate is one that I gave the cat too (before he moved in), so I have 3 kittens and the mother cat again. This cat has an uncanny witt for climbing into people's laps and hearts, and it seems like my Taru Nebz has the same ability.

Zylia, made up name... like it?

Tearyn (aka buddy boy, d00d), name of the only male cat born and survived thru the litter. My little buddy boy, very big and stalky... I call him the pit bull of kitties. (This is the kitty in my avatar)

Sphynix, made up name... like it? (needed this character for gear and spell storage)

Spellkeeper, needed a character to take the spells off of sphynix's hands so she could store more gear instead. Original name eh?

Geargod, my latest and newest mule. It's getting to the point where Sphynix can hold the weapons and shield and jewelry of my jobs, but I need a character to hold the hands, feet, body, legs, hat, waist and back armor... Another original name eh?

Enthuz:

stemmed from enthuziast, which is kinda like the coming-of-age promise i had for myself in RL back when i was 18. graduated from high school with the stark realization that i've constantly been mopey and that's a major turn off for quite a few people around me. also realized that i was rather tired of being the quiet, resilient, negative one always first to complain about something and never really trying anything. hence i coined the name 'enthuz' or 'enthuziast' as a promise to be more open, more enthuziastic about any situation.

come 5 years later, i think some around me have noticed a change. and promise really is becoming redundant. but i still use it anyway, as a reminder of what i could have been if not for a constant effort to be something better.

Eume:

character deleted (cos of disuse, NOT abuse). but the name was cos i saw 'Hume' as my race, and decided to make a play on his name. BWAhahaahHAAHAaaaAA~~!

Mirandal:

tried to get my sister to play FFXI. she wanted this name for her own reasons. i think it's cos she likes it.

Luvibabe:

she's hot. BWAHahaAHahaaaaAA~~! jokes aside, there's no other reason save to poke fun at other similar adolescent-inspired names.

Well back in the 3rd grade when me and Chinqlinq were attending the same elementry school I got the nick name Swilly and Chinqlinq was known as rasin. Swilly could "fly" for about 2 seconds at a time and rasin just dried up in the sun. Too bad the name rasin didn't stick. Otherwise Swilly, the Elvaan RNG, and Rasin, the Galka PLD, could have adventures just like back in the 3rd grade.

I get asked about my name a lot... People often question the two "nn"s at the end. They always ask "If you're a mithra, shouldnt you spell it thorrrn instead of thornn?" or simply assume Thorn was taken. (There is another mithra monk on the server now named Thorn with my exact same character model, so it can get confusing).

Anyhow, I picked the name based on an old favorite cat girl character from a decade or so back... Thornn from marvel comics, spelled with the double nn. (Brotherhood of evil mutants, Morlock, X-corporation) I was in a rush to start playing when I bought FFXI so no time to think up an original name. I didn't want to use a more common anime catgirl, and I didnt want a name with "meow" in it >.<

Found a link with a picture (Not the best picture... scene where shes been arrested and in stupid handcuff thingys)

[link=null]http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Realm/5113/thornn.htm[/link]

So stop correcting me on how to spell "Thorn" please ^^

My name has no origin Smiley: cry I just tried to think of something that sounded suitable for the model I picked for my character.

Orikenus was then born on December 26th, 2003. Pronounced (Or-ick-een-uhs) with emphasis on the 3rd syllable.

Watching the animation when I was creating my character, I stumble upon the Galka animation, I was so impressed with how big and strong the Galka looked I told my friend: oh, that guy seems to be Muy Fuerte (spanish for very strong or mighty strong) I like it. The name stuck.

Now Muy Fuerte has a mule named Mulefuerte.
One of my friends in the ls came up with the name.

Typo wanted the name "Rice". Ish a short, easy taru remember cutsie name of nummy food. But somebody else was called Rice!

So Typo thought of another short and cutsie name: "Typo". Ish not a nummy food for the kitties to lick, but ish a little funny and very cute like tarutaru. Yay!

My char name comes for a forgotten realms book. It was taken up by a moon elf who as a child had her whole family killed by drow elves. The one who spared her was drizzt...yeah all of those guys running around... So lelorinel is elven fro "revenge" so if anyone reads my bazzar message it'll make sense.
Sometimes called lelo which is kinda appropriate because lilo was from hawaii ^^

I know I'm just sort of a lurker around here and this is one of my first posts, so sorry about that.

As for my character's names...I've got three: Wafuru, Aerynn, and Lyra. Wafuru is my main, and I wanted to name her 'Waffle', an online alias of mine, but that was taken. A friend of mine suggested giving it a slightly Japanese twist so I tried that and it stuck.

Aerynn is the name of a character in a novel I'm working on.

Lyra is just an actual name that I happen to love.

Numps is a character from the play Bartholomew Fair. Written by English playwright — and competitor to Shakespeare — Ben Jonson in 1614, this is the most detailed contemporary account of an Elizabethan market fair. In Bartholomew Fair Numps was a simple (simple minded?) peasant fellow. I adopted Numps as a persona when participating in Renaissance faires...to which I have been addicted for most of my life.

Faire friends know me as Numps; my girlfriend says I am a Taru. So when I joined her in game as a Taru, the name was obvious.

Windybay was my first bazaar character. The name is a truncation of Windurst and eBay.

Boots was my second bazaar character — a half-dressed Mithra simply because half-dressed Mithras attract more buyers. Boots is a popular cat name...and also what she wears.

Oxidizingiron is my latest mule...probably temporary while I am in the stage of fishing up an insane amount of rusted items. His name is simply a Galka take on the rusted items he sells. I usually just refer to him as Rusty.

Hmm I just thought of Ratmonkey as just a normal internet name way back in the day. Soon enough when I was playing Halflife: Team Fortress Classic, someone tells me that it came from the movie "Dead Alive". I think I saw a little of it back at my friends house. Lol also theres a T-shirt with a picture of the ratmonkey and a band named "Ratmonkey". Wierd stuff.

I actually wanted to use HELL as my name, that's been my internet name since 5 years ago or so, but how in almost everygame, hell is a forbiden world.

So at that time i was watching an Anime called Chrno Crusade, really good anime about religion and demons, and the main character Chrno was a demon that had made a life pact with a nun, so i was a lot into that character, so i tried the name, but it was taken already, then i thought on changing the C for K and it worked, so my name was Khrno.

PS: info and images from a CC fansite http://www.chrno-crusade.com

whoo hoo... finally the deep dark secrets of the universe are revealed.

ok so this was my first MMORPG (can you tell... Im not even sure if MMORPG is the right term)
Anyways...

I use Toyzruskid as my normal screen name for AOL and Yahoo but I figured somewhere out there in gaming world someone would come across it and yank my account for copyright laws... so there went that.

*** there are 2 types of people in this world... those who have hooked up via AOL and those who've lied about it. ;-)

So I went the Sci Fi roll off the tounge approach and went with the name of a Cliver Barker book. "Imagica" oddly enough I never read the book. Didn't matter, this name had been taken

So I sat some more and tried a various amount of other names, knowing I had to pick one that would suit my character (handn't gotten to the pick you character part yet either)

I tried Exotica as a dirivitation of Imagica, and low and behold it worked. But as I created my character and logged into Windy I noticed all these Anime names of the sort and figured, no no no, can't do Exotica, people will think I'm a drag queen.

So I sat another 1/2 hour going through names of people and pets and places and cartoons (stupid elmo and eeyore were taken too.. but I could just see that Eeyore the Dark Knight... yeah)

I ended up taking the last name of a kid who I was in gradeschool with. no clue why, probably because I was SO sick and tired of weeding through names that I just went with the first thing that came to mind. Thus Mattea was born.
Muh-Tey-Uh emphasis on the TEY

Funny thing is, my pol account still reads Exotica, so if I'm on your friend list, thats the name you see.

My mule was easy.

Galinda. (Taru Female who floats around in her bubble through the town of San Doria)

If you have ever read Wicked, The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, you'll know that Galinda is Glinda the good witch of the north's real name. Just as Elphaba is the WW of the West's name. (there's an Elphaba running around on our server too, very nice player I might add ^^)

Danyu is my name ^^. Well, I actually created this name for Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast version), and liked it so much, I decided to keep it. I took Dan, which is short for my real name Daniel, and then I decided I also wanted something that adds a better appeal. I though of Ryu from streetfighter, and how Ryu was the guys name in Breath of Fire, so I just sorta put them together... Dan + Ryu = Danyu.

Thank you for listening my lame story. :P

the rest had the red x of death... firewall at work maybe?

Anywayz... I majored in vocal performance in college and had to see through many a performance from peoples "garage bands" and this was a heck of alot better than most performers who had professional training ^^

Not sure if I need to explain my name... =)

My first char was actually a Mithra named Rainne when the game was released in NA on the PC. Raine was taken. I brought her up to 10 and deleveled to 9. I got too many passes by male characters so deleted it and decided a taru was much cooler.

My original choice of name for my taru was Munch, but that was taken and decided to "settle" for Munchkin. In the past I've seen my clones come up on /sea, Munchki and Munchking^^.

I can't find you on that site. I used to be in a R&B group so I'm huge into music. I might actually post some of our group stuff up there and some other stuff that me and one of the others have worked on. Let me know if your stuff got removed. Always interested in hearing other artists. :-b

(Yes this has nothing to do with FFXI but it's nice to see people have skills outside of Vana. LoL)

As far as purpose of this post

Leet = hacker version of Elite (It's a sad day for those who didn't know that already on this game. :-b)

Fade is a shortened version of an old nickname of Unfadable -> Cntbefaded (AOL name) -> Fade. That's the short and sweet version. :-b
