Dont give up buddy... the real times when u would be thinking of quitting is when u go bankrupt, owe ppl hella money, getting AFs or maat fight...

From the movie Galaxy Quest:

Never give up! Never surrender!

I know the feeling, I almost quit too. But I have some really great friends in the game that kept my spirits up. So hang in there. You'll get it^^.

ok you must be refering to the infamous Genkai 1????
it is a pain to complete but best thing to do is just put skill up parties together try shouting in jueno : {skill}{up} {party} {do you need it?} {garlaige citadel} {skill}{up} {party} {please help me}{thank you}
this method always worked for me just send out the shout every 5 minutes or so and in about 30 minutes you should have enough people to help you, if you are getting papyrus i highly reccomend entering eldiem necropolis thru beaducine glacier, it will go alot faster if you go that way! Bomb core is very very easy, but you ll still need high LVL help, and last is exoray mold, that one is pretty easy but once again you ll need help. Good luck!!!!!

<sigh> at least you got to 50. I sit and wait and wait and finally if Im lucky get an inite at 8, which means party doesn't start till maybe 9:30 and then I end up having to log by 11ish. (just depends on how good the xp is)

little by little I'm getting xp, maybe by next year I'll have 50 LOL.

Yeah, Genkai 1 was a nightmare which I'm glad to never see again, only tip I can give you is: When you're going after the Papyrus, go through the glacier to the entrance there, a lot easier

Just be happy they changed the difficulty of the drop rates for papyrus. When i did my genkai 1 it took me 3 weeks to get a papyrus. Last few runs i've done have been very successful getting 2-3 in less than an hour. Also the only "high level" help was japanese or NA who were just a few levels higher so we were pretty much on our own and we got it done. I guess things are different these days, with people paying for everything, i think it sorta takes the challenge out of it. Instead of putting in all the effort you pay someone 50k and then you are done. I've helped a few freinds with it and afterwards i always feel guilty about it. I had alot of fun doing genkai stuff with my friends. I remember doing Genkai 3 in davoi, Mystik and I became good friends. I also remember when i was doing rank 5 we had a high lvl escort through davoi and when it came time to do oztroja he refused because he claimed it was an "adventure" and it really was. Taking about 15-18 people to do it at once was really fun and wouldn't have had that experience if we had just mooched off the high lvls. So before you do that shout offering money for something, try to think about what you are missing, it might just be one of the best memories you could have in the game.

I'm with bani on that one. Ive seen people catch and pass me becasue things have definatly got easier. I started ffxi a day or so before the NA was released(buddy at EB hokked me up) . I know i'm yet to hit 75. but back then It was tough to find someone who spoke english much yet was willing to help. I wanna thank honeklah,sarevok,bani,warf,bigguy,katt,sonfreil,laserath,mccloud,laub,
kimber,crazyk,ethron,wyldcard.wyldchild,malend,garamonde, and alot others i know i'm forgetting. even though at the time may not have been "high lvl" still went and helped me takle things like genkai 1, and AF's . I'll hit 75 one of these days but untill then I'll have fun and try not to get mad to much when **** gets hard. I'm running WST now with card gone and I'll say is one of the best mid lvl ls when It comes to helping others. I've about gave up on trying to get in some ubber hnm ls. If WSt can hold together till we all get in the 70's I just know it will be a great and powerfull ls. So what I'm saying is when someone goes out of there way to help with papyrus or AF . Take the time to give em a big thanks. It
didnt use to be as easy to get help like it is now.

Just remember Algar, NotaGuild was the best LS ever, i mean look at the people who were in it and look where they are now, at least the ones who didn't quit lol. I think the pearl still exists and gyaku might still have his account but i think he isn't using it anymore. So maybe one of these days we should don the pinkies ls and give one last huraaa! Definately the best times of playing FF.

I definatly agree with bani.

I have helped a few people i am friends with for a few reasons. Mostly due to them being stuck on it for awhile.

I think people are too dependant on "high level help". Talking with someone a few days ago, they thought it was impossible to do g1 without high levels. I told them you can get a pty of lvl 50s to do it easy and if you plan ahead you can make decent exp (i exp'd off exos at ~46 or so i believe, was nice exp and got our items).

If you cant stand camping a drop for a few hours, you might wanna reconsider your choice in games. All the rare/ good items have to be camped. (othnius xbow, shamans cloak, moldavate earring, ministril coat, like 1/2 of your AF will require camping a coffer key, then camping a coffer, optical hat, assault jerkin).
