I've pretty much given up on the idea of completing the CoP missions as no one ever wants to do them.
So that leads me to this question...

I'm buying CoP for a Christmas gift and I'm starting to think it's not such a good idea to do so... I mean, I've had no use for it... Whats the sense in buying if no ones doing the missions.

Or do you think CoP will be a big purchase this season and folks will want to start doing it again..

givven the fact that 1/2 the last update you need to be somewhere in CoP to do.... I think it's worth it. HOPEFULLY with christmas alot of ppl will be buying it, thus able to do the Promivions ><

Well , I think alot has to do with the already vast content. I'm currently working on the Zilart missions. Although ZIlart expansion has been out for almost 2 years. Most of the people realize that CoP isn't going anywhere , so really no need to beat the doors down.

Part of the problem I see with these CoP missions is that you need to have finished the first set of FFXI missions. I just got my Rank 4 so now I'm working on that.

The server population looks like it took a really big hit. So finding other players seem to be more difficult. As a 32 WHM, I got tells for parties when I was no where near the area. One time I was fishing in Selbina when I got a tell for a party in Garliage. I also got one when I was in Sandy (fishing again) for a party in Altep (which isn't as hard to get you with a tele at least). Seems that people are getting desperate.

oh I feel the desparation... it seems like Cerberus has turned into the Gil Sellers training ground... only parties I've seen lately have been those with gil sellers.

bad news

Huh? You don't need to have done the old content to do CoP. Unlike RoTZ you can start the missions at any time.

I was getting it for myself for Christmas, remember?

I am not as high lvl as you Mattea, but we can have some fun checking it out :)

it might be different for you as a drk, but i(rng) constantly get /tells asking to go do promyvions. people still do them almost every day, theres just not a hugh ammount of people wanting to do them like back when CoP was released. on release week we tryed at least one every day, and i numerous alliances forming every day. but this is mainly because they made the promyvions easier in the last big update, and now most alliances make it to the spire every time and win easier, it was really outragiously tough when i did it on release week and we died 2/3 trys.
now its like any other mission, your not always going to be able to find a party right away to do it, but its really not all that hard.
and sorry to tell you moreana, but you dont need to do any other missions before CoP. your thinking of zilart missions.

People don't like CoP because it's not rewarding unless you're willing to think of outside-the-box strategies that are unfamiliar and seem risky.

Just like RotZ forced people to rethink certain strategies, such as the concept of blink tanking by Ninjas, CoP is doing the same. We're just gonna need some time to figure it all out.

I got CoP since the day it came out and i haven't yet done a single mission, i've just watched the several cutscenes around Qufim and Jeuno, and gone to some new areas just to get killed by Moblins, slimes with eyes and some weird stuff, though one time i got a rare item that sold for around 50k from a lucky kill o.o!

When i come back from holidays i think i'll be starting the promivions, cuz doing genkais and stuff would give me extra time to do something else. Nobody from my LS has done them yet, and i got a lot of friends that haven't done them yet and have CoP installed, so there's still loads of ppl like us that haven't started CoP yet

i've spent XXXXXX amount of gil on completing CoP missions and have zero regrets.

final reward for completing CoP missions supposedly is sky2. not shabby imho. so take a stab at it. i hear people shouting all the time.

the difference between CoP and Zilart is fairly simple: Zilart you can find/pay HL help to get through them quickly. CoP, it's an even playing field. I love it. I suggest you try it out, it really is a test of how good you can communicate with players of all levels and like jery said, think outside the box.

i'm currently on chapter 3, and yes i'm having a blast. sometimes i have to take breaks becuase it gets frustrating, but w/e it's still fun and i've made some good friends from these missions.

I'm with Thilla, even though everyone despises promyvion areas, I like them still after ive beat them. I think the music is awesome, and I like the scenery there.I also have done some of the missions 134324534 times but so what its a break from lvl grinds. I'm on ch4 and I still help in promyvion and other missions becuase I think theyre fun, not being like most the other higher end players who think its beneath them too be capped at 30. >.>

Sky 2 can't be accessed yet, the current reward is a ring that warps you to Jeuno

I would like to second Thrilla's opinion. I'm having a blast with CoP. The level cap is great as it let me do CoP with friends who are much lower level than me and be on an equal footing. The challenges are fun too. The new zones are really amazing. The cutscenes are jaw dropping.

Sunset in Riverne Site A01 is a sight! The Aqueducs were spoooooooky (yuk, giant spiders!)

CoP is a much better expansion than Zilart IMO (where you get stuck at z8 unless you are HL).

Do yourself a favor, get CoP for Xmas if you didn't get it already.

Also, merry Christmas :)
