How to get a pt faster regardless of your job:Follow

The idea for this thread came from a conversation I had with one of my RL friends who is also a 61 rdm on the same server (Ryker if anyone knows him) about how to speed up getting a pt.

Rule 1: Be good at your job and know it's place in a pt.

I don't care what your job is,if you can't do it properly then chances are people are going to remember how you did and not want to invite you again, note that this should apply regardless of what your leveling, a subjob, a subjob for another job your leveling for fun, or another job your leveling for fun. People do remember you and if you do something people will remember.

Example: When my drk was lvl 15 in the dunes I pted with a pld by the name of Nimnrod, the guy was horrible, he would only fire his bow and would not voke the monster until it was at least half dead. Later on when the drk was around lvl 42 I joined a pt and the leader said he was going to invite Nimnrod, I warned him that the guy lacked skill but when we actually started fighting the pld did horrible. If any of you want to defend him let me tell you this, around this time, Nimn thought that SATA was bad.

Rule 2: Make sure people spread the word.

I know I do this, whenever I have paried with someone that I know was good I make sure I spread the word, like let's say we need another DD I would say "well I know someone whose really good, I pted with his whm or his war" and that person would get invited and eventually they make a name for themselves.

Rule 3: Keep an eye on the pt's that are leveling.

Nothing special, the simple act of telling a person and saying if you need a DD/tank/healer/rdm I am there.

Rule 4: Put a search comment up.

This one catches a lot of flak from my friends, some say it does not help while others say it does, I personally think that it does as when I was at lvl 50 and 55 putting that I had completed the Genkai's made me get pt invites faster rather than making the person wait and wonder if I had.

Rule 5: Don't be afraid to try and start your own pt.

First understand what is necesary for a pt at your level and ways to work around the setup if not all the jobs are available, at mine the best setup seems to be Pld, Rdm/Brd, Whm, Blm, and two DD's, the blm can usually be replaced if you replace the blm slot with a rng and have another rng in your DD slot. Two rng''s in a party can be quite brutal if they know what they are doing. Sorry to all the Nin/war's and war/nin's out there but Pld seems to be able to hold aggro the best in my experience especially when I do something like use Berserk and Souleater, none but a pld have ever been able to pull something off of me when I had done that.

All I could come up with after thinking about this question, if any of you can think of something else that feel free to add it.

I use to make my own pts, and most of the time i invite ppl that i've pt with them before. And there are sometimes when i'm not in any pt and i receive invites from this ppl, so it's nice that they remember me.

And sometimes has happened to em aswell that i get a tell from someone saying that his pt sucks, that he wants to leave and if i can get him or something like that, and i'm not talking about those DRKs and DRGs that keep bugging all the pts leaders.

Well, we cannot always depend on a PL. Skill, in the long run buils your reputation!

Looks good, in theory.

But then again, so does communism.

Another factor that I find on getting a pt is time of day. I live on the US east coast and I'm much more apt to get a pt after 5 or 6pm than I can in the morning/early afternoon.

Good points, though. However my cynical side is telling me the people that need to read this thread aren't going to. ^^

And for the record, until my last party, the ones I usually make end up horrible.

[Edit: Horrible spelling, grammar, and punctuation.]

might I add that doing a search when you're about to LFG may help you save time.

Ex. You want to level a 35 whm. Obviously shouldn't have too much of a problem right? Maybe...

/sea all 33-37 inv

This will show you how many people from level 33 to 37 are lfg. If there's a couple whm's in here... chances are you won't get a group as fast as you had planned.

However, checking to see how many other jobs of your own are LFG isn't the only point in this. You also get a good feel for what's currently LFG and even see if you can possibly throw a party together of your own. Now let's take it one step further. It might be a good idea to see where everyone's at... You could stay in Jeuno and wait for an invite... but you also might get one faster if you're in the same zone as a pt looking for a replacement.

/sea all 33
/sea all 34
/sea all 35
/sea all 36
/sea all 37

You have to do them individually most of the time otherwise the list will be truncated and you won't get full results. Most people will probably be in CN, but a couple might be in the desert, or might be a PT in behemoth's dominion or Garlaige Citadel or wherever... now you can get an idea where the majority is and decide to wait in Jeuno LFG or go to where the majority is.

Eh, just a couple tricks I've used... saved me from wasting my time a few times... especially once when 3 other whms my level were lfg or 4 other smn's my level was lfg (2 w/ fenrir)... Afterall, it helps to know what kinda competition you're up against.
