I should have known better...Follow

#1 Jan 07 2005 at 1:07 PM Rating: Good
I have been playing this game for a while now. I must say I have good friends in the game that have helped me and I am grateful.

I have always and will always continue to help with AF, genkai, RSE, etc. when people need it, however I learned something. (I should have known all along but I am naive, I really wanted to believe people were honest.)

I was in Jueno about to sell my signa, I saw the price at the AH and about dropped. 450k!? Wtf? That is ludicrious.

1. I didn't have the money to put it in the AH.
2. I felt that it was too high of a price.

So I decided to just do a /sh in Jueno.

Avela: Monster Signa for sale, best reasonable offer. AH too expensive, I didnt buy it for 450k, im not gonna sell it for 450k.

That is what I said. (I bought it for 390k, still pricy)

I get a tell. I am not going to hide the persons name, Cattwoman. (Mithra)

Cattwoman: I need a signa real bad, I only have 250k.
Avela: Ok, Can you get 300k?
Cattwoman: Lemme check AH.
Avela: Ok
<Minutes pass>
Cattwoman: I have 296,435 gil.
Avela: I will sell it to you for that.
Cattwoman: Thanks so much, I didnt have the gil to buy one and I really needed one.
Avela: No problem, come to top of AH.

We traded and did small chit chat. Only to realize that She/he had put the money up and I put signa up and he/she switched it to 246, 435. AND i had alreadey pressed ok. ;;

To make matters worse they logged off. I don't know why I did this but the next day I played I was checking the AH and low and behold Cattwoman sold a signa for 500k. :( Why must I be so stupid I ask myself?

I tried for days /telling Cattwoman and when I do get ahold some person tells me they share an account with thier brother and that he sold it, blah, blah.

In one way, I feel like I have a right to be irritated. In the next, I feel that what's done is done and I got played and fell into it and to just stfu.

The reason why I am the most bothered by this is because this game is meant to bring people from afar closer and working together. The idea is to inter-mix cultures, races and build friendships.

I love FF, very much so. Sometimes I believe too much. Some people might say, You should of just sold it through AH, kept the profit, etc.

I am not gonna do that. Everyone in this game should have the opportunity to buy good gear, potions, meals, etc.

The thing that "irks" me is people lie to get what they want. This game strategy is unacceptable.

If we want to get anything in this game done about botting, gill selling, buying, the price fluctuations, etc. Then we need to work together to do it. How in the heck are we gonna do this by taking advantage of each other (the true players) and lying to get gil?

Cattwoman, I understand you did what you though you had to do, it doesn't make it right. (And it doesn't exactly make me the smartest because I trusted someone I didn't know.)

I just wanted to get this off my chest.
Enjoy your adventures in Vana'diel everyone!

One word:
Ouch.

Unfortunately, you're not playing with 100% fully honest people.

There are the few out there that will scam and do what they can to make gil quickly.

What most people don't realize, is that this game acts just like real-life. You will have the good friends, the relationships, and the fun and good times. Unfortunately you will also have your enemies, your annoyings times (like LFP fonor an hour or doing something you hate, but must do), and even get frustrated with people. Everyone would like to be rich in-game just as much as most people would want to be rich in real life. Hence why the person lied to you.... They've just made their game a little easier by taking advantage of your kindness.

Saying that, you shouldn't expect someone to be 100% honest with you in the game. Even though the going price on the AH was more costly than what you had paid, I would've only offer such a deal to someone on my Linkshell or a trustworthy friend -- someone you know who isn't going to take advantage. Otherwise, I would put it up for auction for around the going rate, whether or not it was out of your price range to put up, make some money then sell it for the price that people seem to think its worth.

It's very unfortunate that someone felt the need to take advantage of you like that. It wouldn't have been AS bad had that person not made up the sob story. Now it's just straight deceit. :-/

Just a suggestion if you run across a need to sell something later that you feel is over priced, put it up on the AH for what you feel is reasonable or sell it in your bazaar. It was very noble what you attempted to do, unfortunately, the kind are generally the ones taken advantage of. Don't let this impair your kind nature, however. There are good people out there. I'm sure an act like that could have really made a BRDs day. :-b

What the hell? 500 k for a Signa?

To Giddeus!

Oh and on topic, that really stinks. I would have probably fallen for the same thing if I thought I was helping a future bard/beastmaster get something they needed.

Need not worry Avela... Cattwoman will get his/her Karma appropriately... it just might not be soon and/or in FFXI.

Really needed one for what? (The +CHR doesn't help if it's sitting on AH). Next time I see Cattwoman "really needing" something, I'll be sure to overprice it by 20% ^^.

I do /sea all avela once in awhile but never see you around, maybe cos of the time difference.
Look me up next time your on.
I also been leveling brd a bit lol lvl 9 now.
