Paladin AF big mistakeFollow

Hello.

Um, where should I start? Ok.

Doing my af in Garlaige Citadel, went past thru the gates, thanks to my friends in the LS, Jacen, Davado and Pinwi. Finally after a lot of tries we went in to the zone where there are 4 spawn points.

This happened last night about 2am from 4 am, we were fighting bettles here and there and we also fought a Tainted Flesh (which we didint do too good with it, only Pinwi a 58 thf survived). Anyway, no spawns during that time. We decided to log and I told them I was going to log in the morninig to check if the coffer would spawn.

12:45 (about 22:40 vanadiel time) i logged in, did a first run no spawn and decided to wait until 0:00 vanadiel time. Waited and did another run, BINGO! coffer sighted, but.... here we go, I had sneak and invis on, made my plan of attack (on the coffer). The coffer was behind a tainted flesh, i thought to myself i will take my invis off and open the chest even with sneak on, well, that was my thought.

I went in there did what I had initally planned. My heart is pounding, took invis off went to my items use key on coffer...nothing! tainted flesh aggroes... use key... nothing... tainted flesh hits me for 150, damn, i use invincible, use key again.... nothing, wtf im thinking to myself; all of the sudden I read my chat log: your inventory is full you cannot perform that action, damn!!! Tainted flesh is pounding me, I panic, i go thru my items and throw away a few beetle jaws and insect wings, made enough space...

By this time my HP is down to about 430 (i had 1229 to start)invincible is gone, I have 94 mp left (enough for a flash and cast utsu on me but never did it), im trying to open the coffer but keep getting interrupted. Well the rest is just sad, Muy Fuerte drops right next to the coffer, that coul've given him his head piece of the AF armor.

I was in an awe, looking at Muy lying there helpless. A few of my LS friends were on and tried to get to me and Raise me for about 40 min, no luck (Thanks Davado and Paragon). Rabbitt was in garlaige citadel at the time and gave me the name of a 56 Whm that was in the area but couldnt get to me either.

With 17 min left i decided to log off and go back to HP, I had to go to work. <sigh>, a very sad situation.

What did I learned from all this? If you are on a hunt for an inventory Item make sure to have enough free slots!!! LOL.

I will be back and get my head piece and kill a couple of tainted flesh to get revenge. Good luck to all AF hunters !!!

Yes, I had already try the other side but we had never enough ppl to go thru the gate.

This time I went with the monk and the whm (Jacen and Davado) who got their AF on that side. Well, we will keep trying.

Reminds me of my Monastic Cavern coffer troubles.

I'm a THF, right? So I can pick my locks. I bring 1 thief's tools, and 4 skeleton keys with me. I head into Davoi all by myself, and use my Tonko to stay outta sight from all the orcs along the way. While I'm making my way to Monastic Cavern, I see a treasure chest. I figure, Hay! Free gil/item! So I decide to test out the lock picking ability I have, and use the one Thief's Tools on the chest. Turned out, the chest was trapped, and I was stuck with weakened. I figured, Hay, Weakened only lasts five minutes, it'll be gone by the time I get to my coffer.

Well, I get in there, all invis'd, and find the coffer pretty soon. Just as I'm about to drop my invis, another THF drops his invis and picks the lock and bolts outta there... I desperately search the spawn points for another coffer. Meanwhile, my weakend is STILL ON, and it has had to have been about 15 minutes at least!

I find a new coffer spawn, and wait for my clear chance to pick the lock. I drop invis, go to inventory and try to use one of my skele keys, and nothing happens. I try three more times to realize, on my chat log, that "You cannot pick locks while weakened". I'm like, That's a retarded rule, but then again, it makes sense to booby trap chests like that to hinder treasure hunters. So I decide to camp it out. I wait for a half an hour, wasting shinobi-tabis to keep me invisible all the while. I finally give up, and use my warp scroll to go back to my mog house and wait the weakened out, (which, lasts another 15 minutes at least... so this was about an hour long weakened from one treasure chest!). I get busy with something, and log. I need a break from Monastic cavern for the day.

I log back in, new day, new chances. I make it to Monastic Cavern, and I don't find any tempting treasure chests to foil my plans. I run through the spawn points, and miss about three coffers in total to other coffer grabbing parties. I start getting frusturated. Busy day in Monastic Cavern I suppose. But then, one unimformed coffer hunting party discovers the room where the NM Orc that aggros by sight *and* sound, and train the NM, along with all the orcs on the way to the nearby zone. I figure, "Crap! I don't want that NM catching me!" So I head towards the zone, knowing that the orcs don't show up near it, and decide to temporarily log there so I don't die. Stupid me, I realize I didn't go far enough into that tunnel towards the zone. I log back in, desperately try to tonko back up, only to find that I logged right in front of a Orc Dragoon. I die, and with no WHM in sight, I face defeat, and HP. I decide to try again later.

My third attempt at Monastic Cavern, and I go searching the spawn points for a chest. I also make note to do a /sea area to see if I have any competition. Turns out, I'm in luck! Just I, and one party, with a leader I know from my linkshell. I give him a tell to please to let me get the coffer if they find it, and he assures me that they are *not* after coffers. So I search the spawn points, and sure enough, I find my coffer! I wait until the orcs are not looking, and drop my invis, use one skeleton key on a failure, and the second key is a success! I have my old Gauntlets! I head for the zone area, /wave to the guy from my LS who was in there for non-coffer reasons, share my success with him, and then use the warp scroll out! Huzzah! I later manage to secure the aid of 2 BLMs (a 74 and 75) to help me defeat Dark Spark, invite a WHM from my LS who was in Xarcabarad to help me out, and we nuke Dark Spark without a hitch, and I get my gauntlets! :D


Don't worry man, You'll get your coffer! It's just going to take some time, and a stroke of good luck! :D

I too will need to do AF coffer hunting in GC, but sadly I still need a key. I don't know if any of you still need a key also, but this is as good a place as any to ask. I will of course help with opening gates as needed to find coffers. My blm is 53 atm so it's not crucial to me yet as I can't even use it till 54, but I know everyone would be glad to have a person with sneak/invisible handy.
