Well I guess that really depends what you want to get out of Vana.

An RDM will ALWAYS be in demand unless you see a massive influx of BRDs which I don't see happening any time soon. However post 41 get ready to hear {Refresh}{Please} over and over and over. :-b

DRK and MNK have trouble getting PT invites post 50 so make sure you have some patience and the desire to be the best one out there. :-b However, I love BOTH jobs and have leveled both and will continue to do so. (DRG fits in this category but I'm only level 4 so I can't really comment on it that much)

WAR is kind of tricky. For the less experienced PTs you will be tanking (or when there is no NIN or PLD). For the more proficient pts you will be DD. Make sure to have equip for both. Well, at least food and weapons for both.

BLM? Nuke nuke nuke. If you know how to MB and what mobs are weak to what, well, that's about all you need to know. Now post 51, get ready for some more complicated macros involving elemental staff swapping. BLM is overlooked, IMO, as one of the most expensive jobs in the game. You don't get your money back with a spell once you get to the next level, and you need pies/juice pre-refresh (well pies always :-b). Nevertheless, very powerful, and very in demand.

WHM, well, it's rare you'll go long without a party. You'll be able to make money with teles. It just depends what you want to do. If you like to hold the lives of 5 others in your hands at all times, you'll like WHM. LoL.

BST, solo solo solo... duo duo duo. :-b Interesting job unless you are all about socializing. BST can be very misunderstood in a PT environment.

THF is GREAT for looking towards potential income. TH, TH2, lockpicking, flee, all great for helping to build up some money. THFs are also now HUGE for building a power party post 30. SATA Viper Bite in the hands of an apt user is VERY powerful. THFs with SATA are also a NIN tanks best friend. :-)

If you opt for SMN, PLEASE get your avatars and cap your skill. :-b

Ok looking at race, you are BEST suited in a DD role or even a tank. You are not bound to this by any means, it's just what fits the race best. Elvaan have the highest STR end game of any race so keep that in mind. We, unfortunately, have HORRIBLE ACC. :-/. This will be your biggest hurdle if you decide to go DD.

All in all, it comes down to what YOU want to do. What I see as a great job might be boring to you. I absolutely love my MNK and THF. The thought of leveling my WHM to sub for MNK for HNMs is very unappealing to me, but I'll do it regardless. However, there are some that LOVE WHM. More power to them. :-b. My suggestion, take some time and look at all the jobs here on Alla and maybe even read the job forums. Find what you like the best and go for it. Good luck!

Viran--

I suggest you play whatever jobs you enjoy. Everyone will have their own preference, and you will find some people who insist you "should" or "need to" play to their preferences.

Even though my "main" is RDM, I still have a list of advanced jobs I haven't even tried out yet. I just might have my eventual main waiting in the wings.

Please just keep in mind that this is a game, and it is supposed to be fun. When it becomes a chore is a good time to shake things up and break out something new. I myself am looking forward to what I might find in all those jobs I have laying around waiting for me. That is one of the beauties of this game: you don't have just one job you HAVE to play.

Leet--

Wow, what a great answer. I rated you up for just taking the time to share your knowledge.

I really appreciate someone willing to show patience and teach. I have kept my noob questions to a minimum lately because I have had enough of the harsh responses I usually get.

Nyru, you will never get ridiculed in our LS about asking a "noob" question. One of my RL friends just started the game and WALKED to Jeuno because he forgot he could change to his 21 WAR and choco. Everyone started from somewhere and not everyone has had someone to help them along the way. If you never ask, you'll never know. :-b

If anyone does ridicule or belittle you when either myself, Abancai, or Speck is not in the LS, make sure we know about it. We won't stand for that.

LOL Thumper. I never really got into PLD yet. To be honest, I think there's an unwritten rivalry between PLD and MNK. LoL. Maybe it's just the joy I get in yanking hate from a cocky PLD and watching him/her throw out everything they can find to get it back. :-).

Nah I love PLDs, I think they are by far the best tanks in the game (sorry NINs, I'm leveling my nin now and they just don't have the same amount of hate control), but for now I still use my PLD to {death}{warp}. LoL. PLD is a very honorable job, just not for me. I'm a DD through and through. :-b

P.S. Thanks for the rate up ^.-

Heh, I remember my first walk to jueno. I somehow made it from Windurst to Jueno without getting owned. Halfway through my wandering lost in Sauromugue Champaign, I got LOL'ed at by a high level WHM and escorted to the jueno zone.

LoL. Well he actually made his first walk pretty much by himself. I caught up to him at one point and helped him the rest of the way, but he had made it over halfway there already. I had to do mine solo and it was a scary (yet fun) trip. The first time you see a Goobbue and a Marlboro is not an embracing feeling. LoL.
