Push to 60Follow

Ok I've decided to dust off the Monk and try to make the push to 60. I've become tired of having to ask for help to help others. LoL. I know 60 does not a high level make, but it's a start.

I'm currently <2k into 58 and am looking for some people to level with this weekend. So if you're looking for a solid monk that's good with skillchains look me up.

I'm using venerer ring, sun ring, sole sushi, life belt, Rep. Army. Mantle, Bone Patas +1, and AF gear.

I get TP relatively fast with double attack and kick attacks. I can stand in first voke for SATA also so just let me know if needed. I also have a BLM or two that I could bring along (most likely). LoL.

As a monk in particular I know what those last two levels are like climbing from 58-60. The good news is the crabs will soon be behind you and you can start doing some raptor hunting. People's mad obsession with Distortion will soon pass (At 60 monks get a distortion WS, which is neat but almost too little too late since there are no more crabs to hunt). 55-60 is a truly rotten time for monks and those are often the levels that drive players away from the job.

But at 60 you are reborn and the job really comes to life. At 60 you get +10 attack from your war sub, and an extra +10-15 attack at 61 from an amemit mantle (replace your wolf mantle at last!). This jump in attack should start causing you to do way more predictable, dependable damamge and this is where monks start to pull ahead on their DD. People quickly realize this and your LFG time should start to drop considerably.

Or if you take the thief route, at 60 mnk/thf is finally a solid subjob with trick attack and the newly aquired Howling fist. Either way I found that hitting L60 to be a very refreshing progression and it really did renew my interest in the game.

The only draw back is the 58-61 gear upgrades are on par with the painful L40 financial obstacles monks hit earlier on. Palls, spartans, spectacles, and amemit +1 are all very expensive and in heavy demand. If anything, its some new stuff to strive for now that AF hell is over with.

I'm not sure if you spend a lot of time in the monk forum, but many people do a "woot! L60 post" to celebrate this level. Hopefully things go well this weekend, and maybe we'll see you break that barrier as well. Good luck!

You will love leveling monk by 68 and you can fight skellies in Gustav tunnel. Keep rocking monk.. there isn't enough on this server imo.

Shame the general public will never realize that there's other SCs taru do on crabs besides distortion ; ; Fooeeey.

Just BCNM for the specs.. thats what we did for Ozzy. We actually got it on the first drop. =X I'm sure you will have no trouble finding people to do that BCNM with ya and be more then happy to hand the specs over to you.

well if you still need them when i get back ill go with ya leet, just lemme know..should be home in a month or so lol if you dont have them by then.

Leet i was already 60 before i osted on this thread, but then due to bad parties and unforunate events with Guivre i deleveled from 60-58 >< plz help me gain back 60 also >.> i miss my hat and my lance.

Hi Leet! Not sure what jobs you need for the BCNM to get your specs, but I would be happy to help out. As long as they are your seals, I have no problem with you keeping the specs. Look me up if you need me. ^^

I have SleepgaII, and my Enfeebling Magic is just about capped. If we can get another sleeper to go along, I'm sure we will be just fine.

From what I've read, the drop rate on the specs isn't all that great. I'd probably recommend doing this run during a full moon. I've always had good luck with BCNM drops during a full moon. http://www.ffxi.it/vanadiel_time/time.htm

I will be subbed WAR so I can help voke off mages too, Algar mentioned possibly tanking (although he might change his mind when he sees the battle description LoL), If you can Marzi that would make the other DD, Suriander offered his BLM services, so that that leaves BRD (or RDM) and WHM right?

Now don't get me wrong, I'm in no way holding anyone to this as I know how busy everyone is and it's no simple feat. I appreciate you all even offering so far. I also understand that there is no guarantee that I'd even get the specs if we did go and win.

Two friends and I finally beat Bitoso and we got a total of 20k in drops. LoL. I'm well aware of the BCNM joys. LoL. I did 6 runs of Steaming Sprouts where we did orb user gets all drops. First guy get's 500k in drops. Second guy gets 200+k in drops. I'm the third one, I get 15k in drops. >< 4th gets 45k, 5th 350k and 6th we died. LOL. I've never been very lucky on those. :-/

Well just in case, I'll concentrate on first hitting 60 (LFG all this week unless Cee and I rebuild our pt. ;-b) and then taking the 4DRG to Ghelsba and going seal farming crazy. LoL
