When i got home i hopped on and immediately went straight to fishing i just had to try it out! So there i went to port jeuno and plunked my line into the shimmery waters hopin for a bite. Low and behold i got one! i was happy but confused. How the heck do i reel this bad boy in?! i looked at my pole wave left and right so i figured press the button in the oppisite direction that the pole goes if it went left i pressed right if it went right i press left. After a brief fight when the fishes HP reached 0 i hit the reel in button and was proud of my first catch! Quus ROFL.
on a personal level i love it. It give's more interaction rather then plunkin down your bait hoping for a bite then waiting another 7 secs to recast. A plus side to the update makes bot fishing nearly impossible till the bot programmers figure something out lol. (not that i promote bot fishing)
On a final note fishing isnt that boring anymore either ^_^

fixed fising to FISHING lol

At first it scared me, i mean scared me. SO i went to South Gustaberg and plopped my line there and caught a fish, i was like: "What do i do?" So i went and tried the noob way of doing new things: MASS BUTTON MASHING!!!!

And luckily enough i caught a fishie! Yea well i like it now and the skills go way much faster.

so how is this done? I tried last night... first bite, I tought: "Ok, just wait for the HP to drop to 0 and reel it in..." but the HP stayed at full and the fish got away. Next bite, I think: "Maybe I hit enter to start the fish struggle and then enter again to reel it in." *Snap* Line broke. Tried again, *SNAP* line #2 broke.

Now after throwing 2 sabiki rig's down the drain (same amount of sabiki rig's I've ever lost in my entire fishing history) in a matter of 3 casts... I've come to the conclusion this system sucks until someone can explain it. It really pissed me off cause I was fishing while waiting for the ferry... when the ferry got there, it's not like I had any bait to fish with any more. I did try a minnow that I purchased from the guild on the ferry, but it didn't work at all. Not even a single bite.

Soooo... is that how you battle fish? You hit the arrow keys in adjacent to the direction the pole is flinging?

It took me about 10 casts to even notice the little fish's stamina bar on the lower right side of my screen. After that I had a blast.

That night we made an LS event of fishing in Jugnar. We had a great time and are planning to schedule more fishing trips soon.

Haven't decided if I like it or not. At fishing LVL49 I have had a few long fights where I barely reeled in a --> MOAT CARP <--!! 0.o

I have not caught any of my usual Shall Shells or Bluefins in Buburimu, or Sandfish or Giant Donko in Rabao. And during last might's new moon I reeled in waaaaay more mobs in Buburimu than usual.

Cooking was my first love, and I still haven't figured out what half the foods really do now since that last update.

Fishing was my second love and I am still quite uneasy about it.

I'm thinking about taking up a craft. Any suggestions as to what it should be...remembering that since it's me they will probably change it completely in the next update? ;D

What I thought was disturbing was how so many people dived right into it without even reading up on how the new fishing system even WORKED.

I loved it, though. Pulled in a stack of Moat Carps on my first day.

regarding darkdwellers "too small" question. I guess some rules still apply with the type of rod you use as well.
