I don't know. We will have to see how much effect this has. Yeah, requiring less exp to level would be nice in the short term, I can see this ticking off some high levels who spent alot of time raising thier level under the old system.

Also, the working link is: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/information/0415.html

**** off high levels? No way! this is awesome. I might actually go back to leveling some of my other jobs if the decrease is significant. I have plans to get BLM, WHM, and RNG and NIN all the way up eventually and this just makes it even better XD!

The number of experience points required to gain each level was originally calculated after considering players' effects on the world of Vana'diel as they progressed beyond the initial level cap of 50. However, a considerable amount of time has passed since the implementation of the final cap of 75, and players beyond level 50 no longer have the same influence on the balance of the game. After a close review, the FINAL FANTASY XI development team has decided to reduce the amount of experience needed for leveling up after reaching level 51 (levels 1-50 will remain the same, however).

The update will affect the following:

-Experience points lost due to KO.
Starting at level 25, experience points lost after being KO'd will be 8% of the amount needed to reach the next level. However, this value will never exceed 2,400.

-Currently accumulated experience points.
At the time of the version update, if a player's currently accumulated experience points exceed the number required for the newly adjusted level, that player's experience points will be reset to one point below the number needed to gain a level.

New content and system-related adjustments are under constant consideration by the FINAL FANTASY XI development team to ensure a balanced playing experience in the evolving world of Vana'diel.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Further details will be provided on the day of the update.

It is indeed good news for the reduction of experience points to level. From a game balance point of view -- it certainly does not have a large impact -- a lot of more longer time players have already at least 1 level 75 job. Level 70+ players are fairly common nowadays. From a business point of view -- this makes FFXI a little more appealing to players who do not want to do hard core level grind.

One thing however, this may encourage more high level noobs. People who just want to level fast to do end game without learning their job properly or properly geared up can do it easier now. As a game balance against that -- they could make missions harders -- like more leveled capped missions (Zilart missions can really use that). With big time help, 3 nations mission & Zilart Missions can be a piece of cake (except 2-3 and 5-1 which you can't cheat ;p, but both are very easy if you know what you are doing). Right now, with help, Eald'narche (Zilart Mission 8 Uncapped BC) and Shadowlord (3 Nation 5-2 Uncapped BC) is like 10X easier than Ouryu (Prom. Mission 4-2 50 Cap BC). And I think Eald'narche is defeatable in a 65 Capped BC and Shadowlord is easily defeatable in a 60 Capped BC.

All they needed to do really was implement a decent chunk of exp through quests. (I know about ENM's >.>)

It will be interesting to see what the new capped EXP is, and what level I log in as after the update.

If the change would have made you level, you will be 1 tnl.

Well this is indeed a very good news, i'm not trying to be lazy or something, but the game was starting to many time from my rl and going forward on it or keep having a normal life was getting a bit difficult.. (if i want to get a lvl i have to party for 7 - 8 hours, and being a melee i can't afford to just pt for 2 hours one day and then being 3 days without getting an invite.

What Amanada says about high lvl noobs it'd may be true, but it still is, even at my lvl i find quite some BLMs, RNGs or WHMs noob, that you they have just being lvling without doing any missions past rank 5 or any quests, just 1 or 2 AFs.

The problem of hlvl noobs is already there, and it is based not in how many exp you need, but in the job they are. But well i know, those aren't the only jobs with these kind of players, there are pretty much everything on our server like de smn Ka******, etc.

But the best part is the reduction on exp loss after deaths, i love exploring and going to areas with EPs and DCs to fight them with a friend, and a lot of time we end up going back to HP, or like the other day happenned to me, i was warping and ended up dead in Lower Jeuno lol at least i got a R3 there >.<

You might say, then change your mog enhacement to experience, but i do gardening and i have a strong gardening Mog enhacemnt, so i can't aford to lose it, since gardening is one of my main income sources. Hopefully my next blood warp will be for just 2400exp then ~.~!

Yeah, I read it wrong. but thats gonna be annyoing lol, putting 30k into lvls and now now getting to use that exp in an adjusted world?

Oh well, I guess we'll wait to see what the new EXP cap is.

I think I will enjoy this change. I haven't had a lot of time lately to play this game, so this will save me a couple of hours of play time to level up my character.

Thank you SE! Hopefully now I can get somewhere and I won't loose as many friends as I have been because: "It's too hard to get anywhere" (heard that from several people, and have said it myself).

As for higher levels who've already gotten to 75 the hard way, congrats for them... but they too can reap the benefits of this as they can A) play lvl 75 doing same stuff, or B) lvl a different job and enjoy the reduced exp breaks.

ONLY REASON SE IS IMPLEMENTING THIS, IS BECAUSE LOTS OF LAZY or LACK OF TIME TO STAY IN FRONT OF THE PC FOR 5-6 HRS PLAYERS, QUIT AFTER FINDING OUT IS 31-32-33K ETC. EXPERIENCE POINTS PER LEVEL.

SE IS JUST LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR OWN INTEREST NOT TO LOSE ANY MONETARY REVENUES DUE TO DEPARTING PLAYERS, IS NOT BECAUSE THEY CARE ABOUT HOW LONG IT TAKE US TO LVL ANY JOB TO 75.

BUT OVERALL IS SOME DAMM GOOD NEWS.

HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A CONSIDERABLE CHUNK OFF THE CURRENT EXPECTED AMOUNT TO LVL NOW, DID THEY SAY 10K LESS PER LVL NOW, DO I HEAR A 15K? ^^

First, CAPS LOCK is your friend, and your enemy...

second, you're looking at this rather ill... you're saying SE is only doing this to keep customers and clients playing and using their services. This is just sad... I don't understand why you attack SE and make them look like they're only doing it for themselves. Fact of the matter is, if they're changing something to make the consumer happy so the consumer doesn't go somewhere else... it's not "The company is doing it to keep your money, they could care less about you." Whereas in reality, it's called Customer Satisfaction. SE does care how long it takes for us to get to 75 because of Customer Satisfaction. If getting to 75 is soo tough that many people leave and spread negative reviews of FFXI post lvl 50... they're not meeting Customer Satisfaction very well...
