Just in case you missed it on the front page, I STRONGLY encourage everyone to read/post in this thread.

It seems SE is actually showing some interest in its players.

What seems to be a representative from SE has posted on the board asking us our opinion. Seeing as how it's a problem across all servers, I think it'd do everyone good to read it.

Good timing, in my opinion, what with everyone's favorite miscreant coming back to Cerberus (supposedly).

I thought it was a joke at first, but I am placing my faith in it, I figured it was only a matter of time before they started straightening things out.

It is actually a LOT HARDER to adjust game balance and cheating issues than a lot of people think. MPKing is tricky because people got "MPKed" by mistake all the time like Summoners and Beastmasters got a bomb exploded over a PT by mistake, or new players panicking and zoned / trained a goblin over another camp etc. Changing monster behavior too much will destroy game balance and make the game "too easy."

Secondly, there is never a game balancing or change can please everyone. Heh, I am sure when SE banned a lot of botters and mpkers over last two "Big Bans" are probably related why SE got DDOSed all the time.

Honestly if they changed a mob's behavior to "non-aggressive" until it returned to it's origin that would eliminate the training MPKs. I think they already fixed it to where most AoE does not affect people outside the party/alliance which is how it should be. Except those damn mandys. I always get slept on my choco when running through Yhoator. LoL

Changing all AoEs to PT only is bad. I want to the game to be somewhat challenging. One reason I play FFXI (over other online game) is that I want at least some challenge (and FFXI is not hard to play already). Understanding monster AoEs and monster aggressive behavior should be consider a flavor ;D

I have yet to post on the main thread of this topic because i want to say as clearly as possible my feelings on their ideas. First and foremost I am not one to alter the game for peoples comfort. Changing linked mobs to "Non aggresive" pretty much translates to me as "Lets put Vanadiel in bubble wrap so that no one has to suffer the inconvenience of random death". Final Fantasy's legacy is random encounter, the unknown and unexpected getting slaughtered with your pants down. I see alot of people from the post saying "Well linked mobs to zone lines not aggroing would prevent alot of down time while you wait for everything to go back to normal". Seriously? cry me a river. If you find it a pain that you must wait X minutes for some mobs to clear so you can go back to exping you are in for a sad dissapointment the farther you progress in the game. What needs to be asked is not how to change the game.. because the game is not the issue. The issue is the people who cause the problem and how to effctively change their behavior or remove them entirely.

So this is my thought. MPK as far as priority on GM calls should be #1. It is the one issue that can easily be proven and resolved if the GM could respond to the call quickly. However during most MPK calls you are number 32 in a line of calls that range from "So and so is botting this forest hare to Can you make an appearance for a screenshot?". The rules should be enforced and as this seems to be many peoples biggest pet peeve (gathered by the fact that 8 pages to the mpk thread where added about 30 mins after it was posted) it seems pretty cut and dry no one would be upset if mpk calls were priority. My proposal (not posted as of yet but when i can put it in a well versed level headed post) is that under the call gm option there should be a mpk panic button alerting a gm that mpk is being attempted and needs to be dealt with immediatley. I feel that this can be effective as most true mpk attempts are not just a quick in and out train a few mobs and flee type of thing. Many of them are long and drawn out (example: the flying ls mpks at serket that would go on for 15 minutes+). If a gm could be contacted and made present in a shorter span of time than the standard 30 minute wait chances are they could witness the attack and step in accordingly.

Now there is the other issue. Would such a "gm panic button" be misused? I think this is a fairly obvious yes, but lets lay out a solution. First miss use a warning, second miss use suspension, third miss use banned account. Is it a little harsh? yep sure is. However I for one am tired of seeing to many of the games "issues" being resolved by changing the game and not changing the approach that SE takes on such matters.

I love this game the way it is. Its challenging as hell and always forces you to think, especially in extreme situations. This is what has made FF a winning game for over a decade now and i refuse to sit idly by and watch it be downgraded when all that is really necessary is telling the people we pay 12.95 a month to that they need to man up and start taking a more interactive role in the community that they have created. Just my 2 gil see you on cerberus.

It's not the system's fault at all, it's the GMs fault for not doing anything about the players that cause these issues. If the GMs actually banned players that do MPK/Train/etc. then there would be no reason to change how things are.

I'm not trying to say SE looks bad, but SE has been doing a lot of really stupid things lately. They've only worked around probelms instead of doing something about the problem itself, like when they made drops from Stroper/LL/VE/Argus all RARE/EX, they "KNEW" botters/gil sellers were camping them, instead of changing them to RARE/EX, why not just ban players that have had multiple calls on them for camping these, or at least keep records of GM calls.

Or recently someone got their account terminated because his brother's account was terminated because the GMs said he was doing "speed viloations" which was a total lie, and since this guy and his brother lived in the same house and used the same Credit Card to pay, SE terminated both accounts, pretty stupid on their part to ban an account with no viloations just because the address/credit card # were the same as the the one that was banned.
