anyone else disapointed with the side effects of expansion?Follow

#1 Jun 10 2006 at 8:35 PM Rating: Default
Ok heres the thing, this expansion is nice and all but i find the factor of accomplishement is down a notch.. Here is a good example: Jaridah petti wich is an armor that really pisses me off. Imagine farming 4 months to buy a scorpion harness and paying 14 mil for it and having evryone say how awesome it is. Then think of when this new armor worth 100k comes out wich you could say is BETTER and SH price goes under haubergon wich is around 5.4 mil. It disgusts me to no end what has happened. Another example? chilvalrous chain and peacock charm.... The value of charm has dropped by at least 5 mil because of that item and its only 5 percent drop rate and was one of my main ways of making gil with seals. Not only this but the prestige is gone i find.. people see a scorp+1 they dont care cause its not close to as good as it use to be. I have never seen so many people with that armor since its only 10 MILLION, bonecrafters should be ashamed of themselves of letting this happen. So much more things i could say about this but i think you all get the picture. Losing almost 10 MIL off value of an item is sick, people should be ashamed of themselves. The economy is in our control lets try to limit this gigantic price drops while other items go up in price and ***** a few hundred people out of there gil.

If people are still making a profit on the harnesses then why does it matter?
People get them cheaper, the crafters make their money. Everyone's a winner... except you. You're bitter because you can't get a rebate, where as the general population of people coming up to SH level are buzzing with anticipation because they're getting a kick *** item for a large percentage lower than it used to be.

I've bought items before for like, I dunno, 200K (for argument's sake) and heard people go "lol i paid 20k for that when the game came out".
It's not fair, but it happens.

Long live lower priced items.

P.S. You could sell your SH, buy this "better" item and get a nice piece of armour and several hundred thousand in your pocket.

OP: You are a moron.

Were you disappointed when Microsoft introduced Windows XP too cause you bought Windows 98?

Your right Alex, lets move Vanadiel to communist style economy, its the only way everyone will be happy...... As if a bonecrafter has a choice in deciding what he can price his goods at, its like Sony coming out the blue and saying all my DVD's are now going to be sold 3 times more then my competitor. See how long that lasts.... Read up on some simple concepts of suppy/demand economy. NO one benefits from collusion.

lol.. what i meant is that for all those hundreds of people who spent 4 months to farm for such an item its too bad its worth nothing today. Im bitter? yea with another few hundred people. Main thing i was saying is theres no item that makes you FEEl like you acomplished something like it use to be. Unless you somehow get a kraken club or something lol.

Lesson learned, don't farm for 4 months in a video game. It's a game have fun... don't make a job out of it or you will no longer have fun.

And, to just add this.. this is first time i've ever heard anyone complaining that SE released a piece of gear that is millions less than a previous item. And on top of that... most likely a better piece of equipment.

I farm/harvest all the time since my work schedule prevents me from partying.

Things happen. We get used to it. In theory, actual communism would be the perfect system. But.. Someone always gets greedy, and thus it always fails.

Too many people buy gil to feel accomplishment.

All the gear I have is earned. Almost ALL of my MNK gear is rare/ex. The only really valuable piece of gear I have is Osode and that was earned by helping my HNMLS. I can't remember paying more than 2 mil for any piece of gear I own and I feel more "accomplished" by learning my jobs to the point of not having to waste my life away non stop farming.

By releasing gear like the Jaridah Peti, SE is combating the ridiculous price gouging that has been going on as of late. We're now starting to see some unbelievably overpriced items come down to a more realistic amount. These items now have competition that have a realistic method to obtain them, so some of the wiser players are putting a little work to get them w/o wasting their life away farming. I commend SE for this.

Now, there are some items that will retain value. The Jaridah Peti is GREAT, but it's no Haubergeon. The Sipahi body "could" be subbed in for a SAM instead of a Haub, but you're missing some key stats (like +10ACC).

Personally, I think SE really did their homework this time. They introduced some gear that gives some of the "must haves" competition, but didn't surpass them in quality. This allowed people to keep leveling their jobs that they put on hold until they got gear that was socially acceptable (sad huh?), and provide them with a method to move forward.

One of the best comparisons (imo) is the Palawahn body. You can either get a D.Body Abjuration from Kirin, 2x Divine Lumber (~4mil per log!), all the other ingredients and have a Cursed Togi synthed (pray it doesn't explode, I've got a screenshot of my 2x d.lumber disappearing if you think it can't happen. LoL), oooorrr.. You can get with some friends, crank out 20k Assault points in Ilrusi Atoll, and get a bad *** Rare/EX body piece. Which would you rather do?

And as far as the peacock charm, give me a break. LoL. It's at 14mil and you're complaining it's too low in value? I would LOVE to be able to sell one of those. You got it from a BCNM40 I'm guessing. Sooo you traded 40 seals which you most likely got exping anyways, did a relatively simple fight, and got 14mil. This is a bad thing? Even if it was 5mil... that's a bad trade off? Yikes...

The only negative "side effects" I see in the new expansion is the f'n lag. LoL

Lol, a bad trade off? The charm is insanely low drop rate wich is what i was saying so no it isnt good enough for the time and seals involved(charm is only 12 mil now). But i see all your points on this helping lower budget people level and all that, well to be honest would you all wanna see ridiculous amounts of 75 running around? One thing i forgot to say is.. Imagine your 75 thf and theres another 300 of them online at once, seems like you didnt accomplish anything at all since its SO easy today to get there. No matter what you all say you know you prefer not having only 75 wars in jeuno if your 75 war like it was nothing special lol.

I can see and understand you frusteration...fair enough. The fact is that although you farmed 4 months to get your S.Harness (btw congrats on that cause that's hard as hell to do) not everyone has the time to do what you did. People should still have to work for those items I agree, but 14mil is a bit ridiculous.

The issue is that you happened to do this at the wrong time...my guess is, would you have known about this earlier you would have either gone about getting the Harness a different way or not at all. I see where the OP is comming from though, I think I'd be pretty pissed off myself. You bust your *** doing things the hard way and suddenly something comes along and makes all the hard work look almost meaningless.

It's called life.

And your level 75 analogy is way off the mark. There are more people with a level 75 job on the server than without. Most just level other jobs for fun or to have something else for end game activities.

Monk has become the new fad. I see more orange armor floating around than ever. Am I pissed about it? No. Why would I be? Congratulations to those that make it to 75MNK. It's one of the tougher ones to level because it's underestimated.

No economy is ever "stable". Especially when it's run by 14 yr olds, greedy *** hats, and gil sellers.

Who cares, SH is still 10acc and thats sweet. its price is about same price it was in the earler days peacock charm was 3 mill when i started playing kclub was 15 mill. point is all these items effect prices of other items in big picture the cheaper the kracken club is the cheaper items like speed belt kirins osode, alky braclets are going to be. And as far as how much you payed Who cares everyone has a sh now there not hard to get and never realy were.
lower prices are never a bad thing sorry you dont have a 14 mill item to show off now thats what you realy upset about. Items like SH are pricless ppl are willing to pay whatever the demand for it. If demand lowers the prices well thats good for up and coming ppl and IMO SH is still uber for some jobs if theres a cheaper piece that lets you have better all around stats you should be happy nobody care how much you pay for sh*t. everyone is to busy worrying about how they are going to get these items themselves. i payed 26 mill for peacock and it selling 11-13 mill now to me its priceless it alows me to use gears i couldnt use otherwise its a lvl 33 neck piece with 10 Acc thats insane weather it cost 10k or 26 mill its worth it and so many jobs can use it you cant put a price on it dont get me wron chiv chain is nice too! but i worked hard to get my peacock charm its pricless thats all i can say. Acc is the end all stat when it comes to ws multihit ws and great for tp build as well. no one will knock you for using SH over peti sh will do what it has always done help you get tp faster. It still a a sniper ring difference over peti. Haha and youre sense of accomplishment being dimineshed this is a MMORPG ppl play to get to 75 lol evrone will get to 75 if thats what they want to do gillsellers get to 75 and there some of most ffxi retarded ppl ever the day ninue and coolsnow lizi xigua and magikangel got to 75 was day getting 75 was nolonger the main goal it was just a part of a bigger endgame picture its a game if you spend all youre time worrieng about what youve accomplished you should just quit cus you arnt accomplishing anything no matter what in game stats or status you acheve all i want to accomplash is not to be bored. You could get a maat cap and thats not accomplishing anything. Accompleshment in game only comes from expeirences you have with other ppl wich can happen at any lvl i think i know 1 person in the game that doest have a lvl 75 job i see ppl all the time that dont but only know one only 1 on my flist that doesnt have a 75 job most have 2+ its not hard to get 75 esp since they lowerd the total expierence points needed to get 75.

Just be happy your 12mil Weskit didn't drop to 4mil not only 3 weeks after you purchased one. I saved for months and then my LS took donations for me to help cover the rest... not something i would of done, but i guess they felt i deserved it <.< don't ask me why :)
