Just about 10 min ago, I recieved a private message that is full of scarcastic comments and insults from another poster on Allakzaham forum ... a person I don't even know in the game... after I make a joke on a thread in the main forum:

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=10;mid=1162233440253552054;num=48;page=1

that person started -- about asking (not sure if "demanding" may be a better word) for strangers to PL him. And I bet that person actually took his time to PM everyone that reacts negatively to him on that thread.

This reminds me two other run-ins a long time ago in the game.

Someone /telled me that he wants to sell me a fishing bot (that tell is so out of the air, and I had no idea who that was). When I said no, that person then went on keep telling me I am idiot for missing a chance to be rich or whatever.

I also once declined a PT invite when I was not convienced of that person ability to make a PT and I saw that it seemed likely I will get invited by another group. (Hit fast forward), so I died in that PT, and that person who tried to invite me originally tried to invite me saw me dead. And that person start sending insults to me and sacrcastic comments on me.

This is not your high level drama, but it is something that happened among people that are much lower level, yet I see people in high or low level behave like the above three examples. I guess I know why people said the community of FFXI sucks :P

May be I should not had made a sacrcastic joke about that OP of the thread I posted above :P Am I really anything better?

That poster was quite out of line Amanada. Don't think your response was all that bad. Plvling is a hot-topic on alot of forums. Worse is that the guy felt it was ok to send random tells to people he didn't know asking for them to power level him....

The guy was an idiot.

Oooh and to answer how I feel about whether SE or GS are to blame... I blame Gilbuyers... If there wasn't a market there wouldn't be anyone to provide the service.

Actually I didn't specifically state the reason I use my title, it was intended to be little sublime. I tried to imply /wink is that players created the problems in the game -- the problem of morals of convienece and obession of ego and to make oneself look right and any difference from that is wrong even in situations that are irrefutable who is at fault. And players never fixed themselves, so they direct that problem to something else (like SE and GS).

A lot of people who actually quit the game or remain low key is because of the above reason.

They just don't want to listen to the BS.

Not from your server but I did read the original post on the main forum. You only said what everyone else was thinking. I was debating posting something smart as well but decided there was nothing else that needed to be added. The OP is a jackass and his comments are best left forgotten. He'll be the level 75 player who has no oils and powders and gets killed then spams his linkshell for a RaiseIII.

Yeah but to the original topic i say blame both. SE is taking their sweet time shutting down GS while they continue hindering the game.... Its bad enough they made BCNMS because of third party programs, hinder the economy, but now even take party camp locations too?! the hell...... i was partying in crawlers and we were forced to party in west altepa desert because of a GS pling 6 bot characters >>. I even know of a couple of GS linkshells already and i cant wait to mpk them later...... ******* swords .......

My point is ... GS is really a manifestion a problem among players. GS is just merely providing a means for certain players to play the game that is not intend to. Leveling in mass groups and camping NM 24/7 are not against the rules. You can argue it is against common sense to be able to do that -- I am not disagreeing with that statement, but it is hard to take actions on people who is not proved beyond doubt that has broken TOS. Fairness to suspsected GSs is just as important fairness to other players.

The worse botters in the game are players not GS -- there is NO question about that. And you know what, one of the leading bot "developer" of FFXI (Maury/Maruytwo) roams freely on Cerberus, and he even brags about that on KI. He is a smart asshat that he knows how to play the dice to his favor so people who use his tools got banned, but not himself. And again like GS, Muary would not be selling hacks if no one buy them -- and bet who buy them the most: players! And only thing SE can do is to keep banning people who are caught using them.

Players of all age groups (I know some people who buy gil are like full time worker and not the sterotypical "Mommy~ buy me gil" type kids) are to be blamed themselves -- they buy gil, they make bots, they buy bots etc etc, and do not play the game as intended as SE. May be SE can do more to stop that, but still the motive to cheat come from players, not from SE. SE is there to make money too, so I am not sure it is SE's best interest to be overly aggressive to stop players doing things that SE does not intend.

And even when people quit, a lot sell all their gil and character for RL $$$ and give a big middle finger to other players who do play the game as intend. "I quit! F**k you about the rules."

No sh*t man.

The community as a "big picture" does suck.

There are still plenty of good, competent, fun-loving players out there.

These are the ones that quit because the game is (IMO) not as fun as it could be if people
would stop making it a competition where the losers are constantly reminded of that.

Me, idc about flexing my e-peen. I've got a group of good people I do stuff with.
We have a great time doing whatever comes to mind, and when one of us wants something, we all
step up and go get it.

We actually have fun playing this video game, a concept that seems to be lost on more and more people everyday.

This very concept is actually lost by players personal greed for personal advancement in manners that gives little regard to game rules and other players feeling.

I personally don't mind greed. Greed drives the world around, but it has to be controlled.

Well I'm done with the damn game so I'm not going to waste good blood pressure on it. But the game stopped being fun for me around the end of 04. Ignored tells, backstabbing, mean people, bad linkshells, all of the walking on/sitting on/not taking time to raise the dead, stealing, etc. It makes no sense. More power to those who were fortunate enough to not experience such cruel hardships.

My fun was:
-Talking
-Helping
-Exploring

As time went on the first two were deminishing. People USED thier stronger friends to power thier way through missions, quests. People became more fixated on themselves which causes a "talk to other on a 'I need you' basis".

Well, I'm doing what I said I was'nt going to do, sorry. The big picture yes sucks - please know that you and the other fortunates are a minority. FFXI is a game where people can and will bring out thier true nastiness. For what sick reason
is beyond me.

But whatever.

I have an account of PSU too :3 I guess I will go there to find you :3 Don't ignore my tells :P

Even helping and doing stuff together -- it is really a more "socialistic" way to advance together. I try myself not to be the person who beg for help first. One thing I do beg for is you give me pan cakes and we throw at each other :3

Right now, I myself like small group sessions of helping and doing things instead of trying to join or be part of a grand LS. I do participate in end game in some degree, but it is mostly with people I know and people I enjoy company with.

I do ignore tells >_> but that is for strangers only. If I ignored a tell from a person I know, it is either I didn't see it (during PT) or I am AFKing.
