ROAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR? Hmmmm...
Back when I was in college (Year 3 on my 5 year-plan), I walked through some woods in Pennsylvania for about a mile, maybe a mile and a half. While it was nice during the day, coming home after dark was interesting... well, actually, it was damn scarey!
Behind each tree, every bush, my imagination saw some form of animal or ruffian, just waiting to do me harm. (Just 'cause I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.)
I developed a habit that settled my nerves - everytime I heard a noise in the bushes ot trees near me, I responded with a load ROAR! My thinking was that if, just in case, something or someone was actually about to jump out and do me harm, a good ROAR would stop it in its tracks - make it pause for just long enough to give me an advantage (OK, a 2-second headstart running up the trail).
ROAAAARRRRRRR!
Man - what a wierdo!
