Alright, close enough to 21. I'll get started. To save time, i'm just going to number them in order rather than quote
1. Who was the first Secretary-General of the United Nations? I want to say Dag Hammarskjöld
2. How close? Some things close, others not so close. I currently work private sector, more specifically on aviation security. I am an analyst for the australasia region/programmer of everything/computer troubleshooter in leu of IT support.
3.a Do you consider yourself a feminist? Well, I guess you don't have to be a female to be a feminist, so yes, to a certain degree. I fully support females going into the workforce, and given some of the incompatent males I have worked with in my day, I definitly disagree with the still present salery and position devide that occurs along gender lines. Some of the most insightful analysts I have worked with were female, some of the worst were male. Pepole should be rated on merit and performance, not on their gender.
That being said, I am a firm believer that a parent should stay home with a child during developmental years. Either parent would work, however in my admittedly limited experiance, and disputed by our resident Jophiels, the female of the species tends to be more nurturing and generally better with the whole patience to deal with growing children constantly/ability to inspire mortal terror in unruly children when necessary. So I guess I subscribe to many feminist ideals, but I would not characterize myself as a militant feminist.
3.b What's your take on the evolution not only of the movement, but of the term itself? I personally tend to subscribe to the school of thought that evolution occured and is occuring, but was sparked by some higher being. For evidence myself, I look at biology, fossil records, the shere chance that random chemical compounds would combine in such a way to combine an organism, and I just don't see it happening at random. On the other hand, I also don't take the bible to be the literal truth. perhaps "earth created in 7 days" really means 7 distinct periods of development, and how it was made couldn't be adaquatly explained to early people so they weren't necessarily wrong, but just kinda off on the dates. Yes, my logic is full of holes, and people on both sides of the issue have told me I'm wrong, but so far neither side has made a convincing enough argument to put all my doubts to rest. so flawed though it may be, that is what I believe.
4. why did you make this post? its stupid and a waste of time. Well, I could say it was in effort to bore you all to sleep, or because I was bored at the time, or "because I can" or "it seemed like a good idea at the time", but in point of fact, I did it just specifically to **** off you, trunksbrando, since I delight in annoying 46 post scholors with no real weight in the forum. In fact I spent hours agonizing on how best to write this post just to get you to respond. i succeeded! huzzah!!!! ... Next!
5. Did you buy Girl Scout Cookies this year? Yep, from one of the kids of someone at work. I got the chocolate ones with the coconut. have not got them yet though. which seems suspicious come to think of it...
6. If you wanted to could you create a virus that could put all others to shame? Depends on your definition of "all others to shame". I have enough code knowledge that I could probably, were I so inclined, cook up something fairly nasty, and due to my following of the subject for security purposes, could probably launch someting fairly undetected out of asia via a triple proxy relay from a public computer. Viruses are not hard to make, it's just that most of the people that could make them don't because they hate viruses and the slowdowns they cause just as much a I do. I would never write a virus, and people who do so should be shot. Hypothetically though, were I to write one, It ould probably start with one of the W32.sobig variants, except change the code so that it would perform randomly different actions depending on the content of some well known website. For example, have it run a DoS attack if the main story on Cnn.com begins with the letter "W", or to check for updated code if it began with an "H", etc. I'd probably also try to incorporate that trick that code red had where it would disable all antivirus software on the system, delete regedit 5 seconds after it was started, then block all known antivirus websites. That one was really fin to deal with. argh. Basically it just comes down to what your goals are, how evil you are, and how much time you have to work on it.
I really don't like virus writers though.
7. Affirmative: The United States has entered the "decay of the empire" phase.
Can you refute this, and if so, how? I suppose it depends on your definition of empire. If we are speaking as strictly a colonial power system in the classic european sense, then yes, the recent cutbacks in the pacific in some areas might be construed as a decline. However given that the U.S. is now taking a much more active role in foreign policy than in recent years since the end of the cold war, especially in the Middle East, Australasia, and to a lesser degree via economic policy in the former soviet states, i would say our empire is alive and ticking.
8. What if there were no rhetorical questions? Oddly enough, Zimbabwe would disappear in a poof of smoke and Bolivia would sink into the ocean. Plus threads would get much less interesting...
9. What if God was one of us? Well, for one thing the forums would miraculously never have an error again. Certain flame wars would probably end with various people smote by lightning bolts and plagues of irritated insects too.
10. Would you be prepared if gravity reversed itself? Just ask my Velcro shoe factory! I'm all set!
11. Do they use you? Yes, Damn them!
12.a given that America is the only real power in the world, why does it seem to want to self destuct instead of leading? I don't agree with that premise, so My answer would have to be "it doesn't"
12.b Given that America is the only real power in the world, why does it seem that the rest of the world can't pull it's head out of the sand and follow the lead? I'm not sure I fully agree with this one either, but I would probably say Cultural issues. The U.S. is born of all cultures, yet there is misunderstanding and even resentment for the position the U.S. occupies in the world, especially given our persistant, and somewhat inadvertant arrogance with certain situations. Then again, we got more nukes, **** em.
13. Why did John Lennon get filled with lead and Yoko Ono walked away without a scratch? the shooter was nearsighted and or tone deaf?
14. Does anyone else find something very backwards about that? Yes. It proves the existance of ultimate evil. And the fact that the universe hates us.
More please.
