To be fair, by strict definition, she is a skinhead.
Ah, only you
Ever consider that the guy was actually using the term correctly?
No; because I'm not trying to an apologist for fascism, racism and hate, like you are.
Wait? What? That doesn't even make sense.
In what universe is calling someone a skinhead when they have a freaking skinhead haircut make that an example of "fascism, racism, and hate"? Even if we assumed he was using the "racist" definition of skinhead rather than merely referring to her hairstyle, your statement still makes no sense. It assumes that someone calling someone else a racist make them a fascist, racist, hater. So everyone who condemns white nationalism is actually a racist, and a fascist, and a hater? That seems kinda backwards, don't you think?
And it kinda ignores the far more likely explanation that he was just talking about her hairstyle. I'll ask again: Does anyone actually think he was claiming that she was a member of some kind of white nationalist/power organization?

I know that some people, when they don't have any sort of rational response, tend to resort to name calling. And yes, that applies to the politician as well. I am not at all defending his decision to use said labels. I think it's a dumb thing to do because it allows folks (like you and Joph btw) to frame the entire thing based on the labels used and not the positions being espoused.
My position is that no matter how dumb his comments were, it doesn't make her own comments and positions and statements about gun control magically become intelligent. This is not an either-or scenario. Both of them are dumb. The difference is that his dumbness is based on something he said that has no bearing on his position, while what she said that was dumb was
her entire position on the issue. I don't allow the rhetoric to affect my decisions, so I don't really care what he called her.
I find the argument form of "He called her a name, so he must be wrong and she must be right!" to be particularly weak. Surely you agree?
