Then, let me ask Qaoz, what was your opinion of the movie?
Oh boy, here we go.
I liked the movie a lot. I've read that part of the Bible, God knows how many times.
It might not be realistic, might not be 100% true to the words of the Bible, but to catch the audience, and it sure did, you have to make it more dramatic, more action filled and loaded with scenes where your eyes run blurry. Mel did an excellent job making such a movie, I myself had to wipe away a tear as the movie came to an end.
Now, many have read the Bible, many believe that every single word in it is true to the letter, but I don't think so. The Bible is filled with inaccuracies, metaphors and symbols. Maybe the movie was too gore-loaded, but I think it just added a realistic touch that made the pain seem so alive. I almost twisted in agony as the whip pulled out fleshy pieces of his back.
It is a movie after all, and as such it should not be seen as the precise story of Jesus' death.
If you've seen Spartacus with Kirk Douglas and The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston, you'll know that biblical stories often are told in a more action touched version to catch the audience.
So, in short, I liked the Passion of the Christ, but I didn't watch because I'm a Christian, I watched it because the story touched me like the stories in other movies touch me.
