Yeah. IIRC, the Brit in question was arrested for being a jerk to a cop (which, amazingly, will tend to get you arrested pretty much anywhere). The whole crossing the street illegally bit was just what started the confrontation. Nobby loves to give his own "presentation" of the story though, in typical Nobbyesque manner...
As to the Journalist being held. This story has been going on for quite some time. The surprise is that they've escalated the charges, although I think most people knew it was coming. As was pointed out earlier, you don't arrest and hold people for something that minor. They were clearly working up to something bigger. It'll be interesting to see how our State Department deals with this one.
Oh. And let's not leave out the possibility that she was actually spying for us. Not that this in anyway changes how our government should respond, but our righteous indignation at such absurdly false charges should come with a subtle internal nod and wink I suspect...
