Does any of the City dwellers contanier garden? I've had two tomato plants going for a couple years but I've gotten the hold of a rain catcher (read giant reservoir) and access to our drains and I want to expand to 15 or twenty containers.
Any one have any ideas on cooperative plants? I've heard that I should devote at least one pot on each end of the patio to fennel to bring the good bugs. Should I even try Berries or will I just have a giant mess from the local birds? I'm planning on lots of different greens, anything that helps drive the bad insects away?

I hear Peppers are as easy to grow as tomatoes. But that's about the extent of my knowledge.

Obviously you should grow marijuana.
If you're worried about birds, just get a net or screen to cover your plants. My uncle has one for his tomatoes and peppers, but that's mainly to keep the stupid rose-bush-chewing dog away from them.
A lot depends on things like where you are, how much sun exposure the plants will get, how much wind, etc. etc. etc.
Fennel is a weed, so keep it in a separate container or it will take over.
I used to plant a border of marigolds to discourage bad bugs. You might try that, as well. They're pretty and hardy.

I was just searching for some of those handy dandy aeroponic systems you see in stores, the little ones that fit on the counters. I know I've seen a knock off brand for cheaper than the name brand ones but for the life of me I cant remember what they were called or where I saw them. Any of you have on of those nifty things/
My tomato plants grow well so I'd imagine anything that grows well in lots of sun will work on my patio. Watering won't be an issue as I can now set up a drip system for each pot. I have a friend that grows 4 different types of chili so I plan on snagging some plants from him to try out too.
