Quote:
Details of Desmond Hatchett's remarkable family emerged when he was taken to court by the authorities in Knoxville, Tennessee, for failing to keep up with maintenance payments.

He had four children in a single year – twice.

Mr Hatchett, who works in a minimum wage job, said that he was not trying to break a record and has no plans to have any more children.

He insists that he knows all of their names, ages and birthdays.

"I'm done. I'll say I'm done," he told WVLT local television.

"I didn't intend to have this many. It just happened."

Knox County Juvenile Child Support Court heard that the law prevents the state authorities taking more than half of his salary.

Although the mothers would normally receive between $25 (£15.60) and $309 (£194) a month depending on how many children they have, some of them will take away only $1.98 (£1.24) when the money available is divided up.

Hatchett's attorney Keith Pope said: "The children can't be supported all by Desmond, so the state of Tennessee has had to step in."

One of the mothers said that she struggled to feed her young son.

"He's a heavy milk drinker and milk is not cheap," she said.

I mean, you have said that you have a penchant for sleeping with multiple women. Smiley: grin

Also, some people in Knoxville are apparently clamoring for his castration...

I'm sure Virus will tell us this is all the women's fault, they intentionally had babies with this man knowing he couldn't pay his child support so that they could go on the state.

Well, it is partly their fault. I was getting tired of the news talking about how it's all this guy's fault. They could've been on birth control or (heaven forbid) refused to have sex unless he wore a condom.

He should be castrated and she should have her tubes tied. Had this been done after the first couple of children the state wouldn't be paying for the other 6. Who incidentally are going to have f*cked up lives and probably end up in prison.

Which "she," exactly? There were 11 of them.

Not sure about forced sterilization (too eugenics for me) but this is why we need to encourage more voluntary reversible male sterilization. They've invented a way to have a vasectomy that can be reversed easily and safely. Basically, it's a plastic plug in the vas deferans that prevents the sperm from getting out. The plug, however, is made of a special plastic that disintegrates at a certain frequency that only the man and his doctor know, and when he is ready to have kids, he can have the plug dissolved. Tada, instant fertility again.

Smart men will opt to have this done at 18 and they never have to ever worry about becoming baby daddies before they want it.

There's no female equivalent to the procedure yet, alas. The closest we can get is Essure which is nonreversible (since it forms scar tissue.) Mirena, IUDs, and the pill it us for us Smiley: crymore

Huh, sounds interesting. Any other info on the procedure?

Looks like it's only in testing in a few countries, so hasn't come too far along yet. Besides the unknowns about it yet, I can't imagine a lot of guys will opt for this as it does involve surgery near some sensitive areas.

For those of us who will never, ever go on hormonal birth control again (it took me the better part of a decade to get a regular cycle back after going off the Pill,) the options are even more limited. Especially when one also happens to have a sensitivity to spermicide the precludes its use as well. Until Mr. Ambrya and I are ready to close the book forever on the idea of having more kids, my options are pretty much condoms/cervical cap/diaphragm without spermicide (making them less effective) or a non-hormonal IUD. Grrr.

I've always gotten by with sleeping nearly exclusively with other women, and having Planned Parenthood on speed-dial for the occasional alcohol-induced dicking.

At 18? Smiley: dubious
I'm significantly past that age and I still change my women often enough that I have to use condoms a lot for my and other women's health. The birth control is just another positive effect.

Sure, if you intend to lead a monogamous life early on, go ahead. But I don't, so I won't get surgery that is not well-tested when I can buy condoms at negligible cost.

On-topic edit: I pity the kids. And I wonder about the women who had a kid from him, then he fathered a few others and the same woman then had another kid from him... Smiley: oyvey

Yes, but what about the dickings from the Transit Authority?

Those are gratis; in a desperate gamble the Transit Authority is attempting to expand the population of the US in order to secure its long-term future as mass transit providers in the urban regions.
