Mr. Obama has done it again. His actions are speaking to the American people that he has no regard for anything this country stands for. This is the beginning of the end of the short history of this sometimes-great nation. What was his offense this time?

He is handing out pardons to schoolchildren for skipping school!

I mean, seriously, what kind of message does this send to our children? How dare they get involved in their local community! I mean, kids these days will be able to get away with anything as long as they can just hit up ol' B for a free pass. "Yo, dawg, can I get me one of them pardons?"

That's nothing. My mom took me to a Dr. Who convention when I was 7 by telling the school that she was "taking me to see the Doctor." I didn't even need a note.

I met John Pertwee, it was very cool. Smiley: nod

I believe that your parents have just gained entry into the Best Parents Ever contest.

depends on the circumstance.

I was really sick during one of my school years. I had bronchitus twice and then spent a few weeks in the hospital with really bad pneumonia. The school truancy officer actually tried to haul my mom into court, while I was in the hospital. Then he even had the nerve to call up my Dr and harass him for "letting" me miss so much school. (It was so bad the lower lobe of my lung had partially collapsed...)

When I was 16, my grumpy construction-worker father took me out of school for the day to take me prom dress shopping. He didn't make an excuse. The principal came out of his office when my dad came to pick me up and said something along the lines of "Sir, shopping isn't really a good excuse for missing class." My dad scowled, glared at him, and said, "She has straight A's and with the trampy outfits the girls are wearing these days, I'm going to make sure she gets something decent." The principal just nodded and went back to work and he and I drove all over the state for the day. I ended up buying the first dress I'd tried on two weeks before but he didn't say anything about it, haha.

True story: Obama was out of paper so he torn off a corner of the Declaration of Independence to write the note.

You make it sound like he wrote a bunch of kids a pardon who didn't ever show up to school.

Hey, what's that? It's a bird. It's a plane!

Wait, nope, it's just the irony doing a fly-by of your head. /WHOOSH

I see my efforts here have been wasted.

Thank you, Ambrya, for trying to clarify. It seems I wasn't obvious enough.
