Healthcare Reform, where can I locate the facts?Follow

I usually have A LOT of time on my hands at work on SAT and I would like to fill them getting a bit more educated on the Bills up for vote in our congress, specificaly those on Healthcare reform.

First I googled it like any red blooded 'merican only to find two VERY polar results, neither of which actually gave me anything to read, just oppinions.

The website http://www.healthreform.gov/ is just a bunch of fancy videos and 'click you state to see how great things could be' interactive stuff that I guess I could make a 5th grade civics poster out of but nothing laid out for me to actually understand whats going on.

Then there were a few links to FOX news where Sean Hannity tries to flash pretty graphics on the screen for entertainment value as he sips the blood of virgins from a coffee mug that I think had jesus/the twin towers/Rush's salty balls printed on it.

I searched the library of Congress' site for a bit but i'll be honest, my skills as a government investigator are rather lacking.

So I turn to you, video game forum, to ask:
"Has a bill even been written yet?"
"Has anything gone to vote yet on heathcare?"
"If nothing has been spelled out yet, why is everyone freaking out before anythings actually been written down?"
"If a bill has been written down is it available for public viewing?"

I would just really like to know what the proposal is on healthcare reform is before letting the flood gates open on the oppinions.

They couldn't put death squads in the revised bill only because Cheney was monopolizing them. Man, what a ****.

Interesting how it morphed from "Healthcare Plan" to "Healthcare Reform".

I urge anyone who is politically active to get involved ASAP, to insure an opportunity isnt missed here.

Regardless of your stance on Universal Care, I think we can all agree the amount of money wasted in the process is staggering. Tort reform is needed as well as deceptive billing practices & "Fraud & Abuse" being minimized.

I cant find it now, (so I wont quote it directly) but I remember seeing some data showing just how little of our money is actually used for patient care....which hopefully is what we want out of this.

Covered, incidentally, by the Obama plan.

Actually, having been involved in a Grand Jury probe of our local County Behavioral Health Dept, I know individuals can make a difference.

(we got state oversight for Hippa violations, several de-certifications of Prop 36 providers & new RFP procedures, prison time for elderly Guardians & re-structuring of that whole system.....also, now non-exempt employees are expected to put in 40 hrs a week if they want 40 hrs of pay...saved millions)

Honestly, has anyone *not* seen this coming? Universal Health care is a third rail of politics. There's just no way to bring it with out pissing off more people than you please. Minor reforms work fine, but sweeping changes and government options and whatnot require vastly more groundwork than anyone ever seems to be willing to put in. I suppose if we had a Dem president just as popular coming in as Obama in an economic environment that is swinging positive rather than negative, it might be possible. Um... But those are pretty much the conditions Clinton had when he tried it, and it didn't work then either...


The process has been pretty predictable from the start. Everyone still has to go through the motions though.
