This seems to be a common theme with you, there's a difference between hot and scalding, cold and freezing. They're not the same thing. Thundaga III can be used infinitely more times than astral flow can, even if you had 10 cors.

It's pretty simple, really. People that aren't SMNs are peeved that they can't participate as anything but a leech. Therefore, non-SMNs usually don't get in, unless they're a friend of someone in the group or something.

It's pathetically easy to level smn to 10. <.<;

The pinnacle of this success doesn't rely solely on a DRK or two. You need the BRDs and WHMs/RDMs to buff them and in some cases a RDM/DRK or two to keep the mob in lockdown with CS stun. The rarity of multi-hitters compared to just having a JA when you change to the job is another matter, too.

You really don't need all that, a kraken club + a drk is all that's needed to add a huge amount of damage. The "rarity of multi-hitters compared etc" is more than offset by the fact that this is used against mobs that actually drop good items like dynamis lord and bahamut, whereas astral burns are only useful in less than a handful of places against lolexpmobs.

lol ffxi feedback(=29) debate in =4, blame kao ;p

I didn't give a shit about it when it was in =29.

Now I just see it as further proof that we need to get Kao help - the stress of having to wander into the FFXI forums is getting to him.

I don't think anyone involved in the conversation previously gives a sh*t that you don't give a sh*t.

Point is, Kao said to take it to Asylum so apparently someone did. If you don't like that, the door's to your upper-left or lower-right.

You know what isn't a smart idea? Pissing everyone off when you're trying to target a single person with your hissy fit.

I hope Kao mutes you both for trying to be smart asses.

I don't think this thread is pissing everyone off, just the people that for some inane reason feel compelled to participate in threads they already know they don't know/care about/understand, needing to proclaim just how much they don't know/care about/understand X topic, instead of simply moving on to another thread.

I don't know why people would do that, but it sure as hell isn't my or Deadgye's problem to try to understand.

Assuming you're referring to me and Deadgye, I don't think it was either of us that caused the topic to be locked in the first place. I feel I was relatively civil, and I don't think Deadgye even made one post in the original thread. I'm sorry if you don't like a FFXI thread in your precious off-topic forum, but instructions were given for what to do if anyone felt like the thread should be continued, and they were followed. Any animosity you might have toward us might be better off redirected. I could name names of posters who I think probably lead to that thread getting locked, but anyone who actually gives a crap could just go look in the thread and find out for themselves.

For what it's worth, I suspect most of the flamers involved won't even bother coming here to look for this thread, so chances are this one is gonna die rather quickly with this topic remaining a bit more civil than the one that got locked. Well... other than the people who come into a thread discussing X and +1 respond solely to point out that they don't care about X. Those guys are always useful to have around. Adds real meaning to the conversation and all.

As for me being a smart *** in general though... I won't deny that. It certainly beats being a dumb ***.

I can't honestly conceive of Kao telling someone to put ffxi discussions in =4. More likely he meant to ***** at each other in =4. Did Kao just lose it? If he didn't just lose it, he's going to be irate.

Seems like a case of willfully misinterpreting admin instructions due to some technicality and acting purposefully petulant. Perhaps I'm just wrong. You can't honestly have been so dense as to interpret that single line as a true invitation to talk about summoners in an off topic forum.

Well, people don't just ***** each other out over nothing in particular; it always has to be about something. Guess what the locked thread was about?

Knowing him, I don't think Kao is ever NOT irate when he has to lock threads like that. Still, I don't think I was to blame for that decision to lock the thread (and if I was in any way, I apologize). In any case, I don't think he's "lost it"; locking the thread was the correct (and expected) result, because the mods typically do not take kindly to blatant flame fests in that forum and that's what the thread was degenerating to by the 2nd page. From what I recall Wordaen is often cleaning up messes in there too, and I think for him it's also that "ugly job but someone's gotta do it" job, usually stating something like "do this again and you're outta here" or something to that effect. Regardless of how much people think SE actually looks after that forum, the mods do treat the place seriously.

Well, I didn't make this thread, but that's exactly how I would have interpreted it. Why would the flamers suddenly start flaming each other about sparkly unicorns instead of the subject they were already ******** about before?

Plus it might still be a topic that other people would be interested in discussing. It isn't my intention to flame, but idiocy in the =4 topic aside, it does still happen to be a topic I'm interested in.

I think the effect was much as intended.

A flame war was moved to the asylum where it has been successfully derailed over a number of threads, by the disinterested lurkers in this forum.

Our work here is done.

That might very well have been the intended effect. See, Kao knows what he's doing. >_>

Like I said though, the people that I felt were the flamers involved haven't even come here yet, and I suspect they won't, either. So if anything, I suppose there's a possibility I'll wake up tomorrow to find this thread locked too. XD

Yep, this isn't a flame thread. The old locked one in =4 was, though.

In any case, off to sleep. Toodles~

Not even close.
#24Deadgye, Posted: Aug 18 2009 at 2:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I posted it here because while the thread in =29 may have been a little bit heated, there was still a debate going on in there. If an admin had simply stated "take the flame war to the asylum" then there would have been no problem as it would have been received as a "knock off the *************** but the thread was also locked at the same time and I felt that there was still discussion that could be made.

I asked Kao to lock the thread because it was filled with fail with people flaming each other of something that shouldn't even be an issue to begin with-- and it turned out the OP was just trying to be an ***, initially disguising the thread as a legitimate one.

When he said "take it to the Asylum" he meant the flaming and badgering part, not the subject itself.

For FFXI players, it is a Smiley: deadhorse subject about a method players use to gain efficient experience points, an event that rarely even occurs, in which a small handful of individuals are butthurt over because it garners more reward than their clumsy traditional methods. They desperately claim that it is "cheating" or an "exploit" when it has been proven again and again not to be, even being approved of by the game's administrators.
