In order to form an opinion you need to see a precedent?

Now there's a shocker.

I asked for your opinion, not a legal document. Stop being afraid and just answer the question: what should the response from Congress be?

You were asked for an opinion. You can't give it, because no one has given you one.

That's just sad.

It may be sad, but I'm very amused.

He can give it, he just won't because he knows in his heart what it should be. And he can't bring himself to say it.

Why should congress be called on to respond in the first place? Acorn had nothing to do with the alleged wrongdoings. If employees of Acorn assisted in a cover up they should be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law. Where does congress come into this? Unless you're insinuating that congress should pull Acorn govn contracts because of a few rogue employees.

Except that it wasn't.

Allegedly.

If Varus sincerely feels there should have been criminal prosecutions for this woman's gang rape, beating and kidnapping, he should probably ask why the Bush administration set it up so Halliburton's employees in Iraq were outside US law and thus could never be criminally prosecuted for what they did.

Doesn't the justice dept handle this sort of thing?

Yes, they closed the case and said it was outside their jurisdiction and there was nothing they could do.

What would you have congress do?

Using the Acorn precedent, the House and Senate should cut off all funding to Halliburton.
Quote:
Why should congress be called on to deal with a single rape case?

I'm more concerned with why hundreds of billions of my tax dollars are going to suppress and cover up the brutal gang raping of women by the highest levels of Halliburton. This was a case that involved Congressmen and the US State Department. The leadership of Halliburton knew well about it and actively tried to suppress it, threatened the victim and did their damnedest to keep the case out of the court system.

Sorry, not really what I want my tax dollars going towards.

Give me a break. How did I know you were going to blame this on W.

You probably thought about it right before you slavishly sucked off Halliburton's **** for two pages, afraid to say that a company that defends gang-rapists is wrong.

The heads of Halliburton assisted in this cover-up by attempting to force this woman out of the courtrooms and suppressing the case.

Are we agreed then that they should be arrested and thrown in jail?

If they're guilty of what you're saying absolutely.

And if this goes from the bottom employees to the heads of the company, it's safe to say it's systemic. That's pretty much the definition of systemic.

So, until we can fully investigate and find out why our tax dollars are going to protect gang rapists, I'm sure you agree that Congress should immediately cut off all funding to Halliburton.

See? We do agree on stuff.

Speaking of killing people, Laura Bush killed a guy. Of course, so did Tony Blair.
