The side surround sound speaker installation, wall patch and painting project of doom is finally completed, and looks damned good if I do say so myself. Next up is the networking project, the rear speaker project, and front yard barkdust projects.
I have discovered my crawlspace of my house was designed by idiots and does not meet current building code for the structure. Apperently, there is a large boulder directly under my house, and rather than deal with it appropriatly, they just poured a foundation around it. So basically I cannot access half the area under my house, including the area under the kitchen which could be important should pipes freeze up. So my plan to run the rear speaker wire down the wall where I was going to has basically been completely scuttled. What I'll be doing instead is running the wires around the top of the room on the outside of the wall, then down the wall inside it at the appropriate location, covering the whole thing with crown moulding. More work than I was intending, but it should look nice when its done.
That also gives me the pathway I need from the server room to the kitchen wall where the recipie PC of some sort may eventually exist.
I started some work on the server room itself. The network punch down block is on order, and I have cable from the TV wall to the server room, so everything except power under the house is buttoned up. The TV wall still needs its in wall surge protector, and the server room needs a 4 outlet block of power outlets on the wall, but other than that, downstairs cabling is nearing completion if I ignore the rear speakers.
The weekend after next I'll be punching the 2 inch conduit up to the attic from the Garage, and through the wall of the server room into the garage. Once I have that path, I get to start running cables up the tube. I'll try to set up a video camera to cach it when i fall through the ceiling drywall...
so anyways thats what I did this weekend, and will be doing next weekend.
