It just looks too fake to be real. But who knows? Maybe CERN's cranking up their lazors.

From the top video on the page it's pretty clearly a missle that spun out of control. The blue light was probably a spot light. I find it odd that whoever did it is hoping people are too stupid to figure it out and won't come clean already.

No way! Weird lights in the sky in a cold northern country. Who would have ever thought that possible?

Here's something I found from a debunker over at AboveTopSecret:

Quote:
I got an email back from Les Cowley at atmsopheric optics, here's what he said

Quote:
Good morning Dan,

Thanks for the link - fascinating.

It is not an optical phenomenon.

My impression is that it could be a rocket event where fuel or other material is being vented and catching the high altitude sunlight. if the vehicle is spinning while doing so that would account for the growing spiral structure. The central parts of comets have the same spiral appearance for the very same reason.

Regards,
Les

Hope that helps

I liked the newspaper article. "The scientist said it was reflected sunlight... AT NIGHT!!!" Smiley: laugh

'Cause, you know, at night time the sun goes to sleep and stops radiating light out into the rest of space.

The Rachel Maddow show just picked up the story, but I only caught the end of it, where they were talking about UFOs of course.

Funny coincidence, I'm going to Northern Norway, like inside the Arctic Circle, for Christmas. Part of the reason is to see the Northern Lights.

If I get killed by a radioactive fluorescent Russian missile, I'll be sure to let you know.

According to Norwegian newspaper, it was a rocket shot from a Russian Navy vessel...

A colourful and fabulous rocket, clearly

Why would Russian naval vessels be test firing rockets so near shore and civilians?

It was a ****-up by the Russians.

I did like that quote from the Russian Defence Minister:

Quote:
Such lights and clouds appear from time to time when a missile fails in the upper layers of the atmosphere and have been reported before," he said.

"At least this failed test made some nice fireworks for the Norwegians."

I hope we use that excuse next time we bomb a country. "Sure, we're bombing Teheran, but at least it's a nice firework show for the Iranians!"

Not only did the missile fail, they seem to have aimed it in the wrong direction.

"Finally, there are usually ways of destroying a missile that malfunctions. To me, this theory doesn't hold water."

"Also, I need a job. Someone please believe in UFOs..."

I'm pretty sure some of the photos were doctored. Most of the videos show a much smaller spiral than the giant ones in some of the photos.

The videos look very much like an out-of-control rocket, perhaps even one that has left the atmosphere, which would both explain why the spiral was so nice and round (the detritus from the rocket slowly expanding outwards in a spiral) and how the Norwegians could see it, the Russians could launch it, and it not actually be a danger to anyone, since it was probably extremely far away.

I'm guessing that the videos just couldn't pick up as much detail. Consumer video recorders are much less clear than consumer cameras, especially at that distance, and at night. Aperture settings and shutter speeds and all.
