I don't think people do value money as an end, personally. Some think they do; but they actually value what money happens to symbolize to them. I don't know anyone who actually values the dollars and change they carry around. They don't talk about it appreciatively unless they, say, found it in the laundry.

I haven't been paying much attention to Pensive's arguments.
