on why you like it.

Band = Tyr
Song = Hold The Heathen Hammer High

Why = European metal band meets Nordic History and Mythology, and they sound amazing both live and recorded.
Go!

First thing I thought when I read the title was the song from Rent, "Glory."

I don't have much else to contribute. I dislike when people post songs as facebook statuses, and thus I've pushed out sharing my musical preferences when it comes to online media :-P

Fun band Smiley: smile Thank you for the link.

The imagery reminded of the KLF and "America:What time is love"

You're welcome. I saw them in concert a few weeks ago and loved them. Fun fact, the bass player looks identical to my best friend of 16 years, down to his goofy personality and quirky smile. It was eeire. I had to call my friend and tell him I found his lost twin.

now the rest of you play, damnit! I want to hear some music and why I should check them out! Smiley: mad

I'll have to think about it. I really don't have *one song* that I really like or is my favorite.

Band: The Clash
Song: Tommy Gun
Why: By the late '70s, the self-indulgence of 'prog rock' had got to the stage where musicianship gave way to introverted technical skills that lacked soul and passion, then The Clash reminded us that Rock and Roll hadn't died.

Still works for me to this day. No 'high quality production' taking out the edginess and raw energy. Yum Yum.

Group: Soul Position
Song: Hand Me Downs
Why: Blueprint is incredible on the mic and RJD2 is an incredible DJ.

Have had the pleasure of seeing both of these guys together and separately on stage seven times.

Assuming that there are very few Hip-Hop fans in =4, alternate song:

Artist: Hank III
Song: **** in Dixie
Why: Incredible live performances, puts his all into each performance. bonus sentence, bassist creepy as fuck.

Seen twice live, will see again.

Band: Do As Infinity
Song: Summer Days

The combination of wonderfully, witty English lyrics, contrasted with the lead singer Tomiko Van's admirable attempt to pronounce them correctly, makes me think it was a cover of someone else's song originally, but either way it is still the ultimate post-breakup-sulk song and is probably on the Japanese version of Rock Band.

Probably not many people who like Jrock around here, but what the heck:

Band = Stereopony
Song = Daidaiiro
Why = Very easy songs to get into, with catchy beats. The girls are cute too.

Here's a more upbeat song.

Band = Necrophagist
Song = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SRD6mjrUMo

Why = It was written and performed by one person, and the solo can almost reduce me to tears and sends shivers down my spine, and its technicality is something I haven't heard before, ever.

For those that don't like metal of any kind, fast forward to 3:02, thats where the solo starts. Its Beautiful

Band: Jethro Tull
Song: Songs from the Wood
Why: This band, and this song, during my adolescent years, affirmed that Englishness still holds a value.

Band: Alice In Chains
Song: Man in the Box
Why: The song recently claimed the throne of Number 1 on my iTunes Top 25, and the band's new album (with the new singer) is pretty gnarly (in a good way).

Band = KMFDM
Song = Last Things, Terror, Moron.
Why = They have such a way of making kick *** music and lambasting the way America is currently working. In other words songs both parties love to hate.

I think I got this right.
