The US Administration is taking a very strong diplomatic stance on Israel's plans to build more Israeli settlements in Palestinian East Jerusalem.

Biden, Clinton and senior diplomats are using stronger language than we've ever heard about Israel's disregard for internationally recognised Palestinian territory.

USA's condemnation of Israel's planned settlements on Palestinian soil:
It's Anti-semitism! Why does Obama hate Jews?:3 (5.4%)
The Whitehouse is a puppet organisation of the all-powerful Jewish Lobby and will back off soon:4 (7.1%)
About time! Israel has a right to its own lands, but can't just steal the bits of neighboUring lands that it wants:33 (58.9%)
Israel has no right to exist. The West stole Palestine to hand to Jews as a guilt-gift for the Holocaust.:10 (17.9%)
Blah blah blah Muslims blah blah blah 9/11 blah bla blah Al'Qaeda:6 (10.7%)
Total:56

I love how The West are always trying to preach peace to that region, but they are the cause of the whole mess in the first place...

I've been advocating the Glass Parking Lot solution for years.

For the record, I can't vote because there's a bit of truth in all of the options.

That would be completely reasonable.

Unfortunately, Bibis middle finger is directed squarely at the USA with its settlement plans.

I voted for option 3, but I lean slightly towards option 4 as well. I do think that the lands that were given to Israel were a guilt-gift because of the Holocaust. I'm not entirely willing to come out and say that they don't deserve the land they've been given though.

A better guilt gift after the Holocaust would have been for the Allies to have had a treaty where for 5 or 10 year period in which any Jew could automatically apply for and receive citizenship in any Allied nation s/he wanted. Times were really tough after WW2, but hopefully they could have come up with either a small parcel of land or small house for them, or some unemployment or disability benefits as needed.

Creating the nation of Israel was a horrible, horrible idea, especially after the mess that was created in the Middle East by the French, English and American colonial occupation after WW1. Creating Israel was like the last gasp idea by whiteys that they could do whatever they liked with the Earth, the animals, and the brownies, because their better technology at the time obviously confirmed that the world was given to them to be theirs.

But don't ask me if I think the modern nation of Israel should just cease to exist. The idea of trying to accomplish that is horribly painfully messy.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the US administration is taking a "tough" stance on this issue. Netanyahu is a massive cunt and Lieberman should be in a fucking asylum.

Building houses for Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem is exactly the kind of **** that makes a peaceful solution even more unlikely. It's the typical tactic of creating Jewish settlements in Palestinian land, so they can later turn around and say "Of course we can't give East Jerusalem back to the Palestinians, it's full of Jewish people!". That's what they've been doing all over the West Bank for decades now.

The words are always interesting in this conflict. "Creating facts on the ground" they call it. But in reality it's pure colonialism. Even "settlement" implies that no one was there before, which is clearly not the case. It's illegal appropriation of land with a view to permanently block peace through displacement of populations.

What's even more ********* is that the West bank has been peaceful and quiet for years now, no violence, no threats, political stability. And still, their land is being colonised, the check points are chocking their economy and daily lives, there is no prospect for peace, and now Israel is building in East Jerusalem. Insane. Not only is this illegal, it's counter-productive. if Israel keeps on ****-slapping the peaceful and moderate political incarnation of the Palestinians, it shouldn't come as a surprise when Palestinians turn to more violent and radical groups.

That's the craziest thing in all this, how all these actions by Israel are completely, 100%, unequivocally, against their own medium-long term national interest. Mind-boggling.

I don't think the US's "condemnation" will do much, but it's nice to see them being a bit reasonable in their outlook, at least.
