Jokes aside, the guy who made this made it as a satire and as a way to "open up dialogue" about violence in the media. Surely not to promote himself as a filmmaker, because I've taken better home videos when drunk.


Right. I'm not sure I've ever had to guard my kid from this level of violence because, well, I FUCKING CONTROL WHAT HE WATCHES AND PLAYS WITH BECAUSE HE'S A CHILD. I'm sure he tried that, already though and making this made more sense.

Seriously, I'm boggling here. I'm trying to decide what's most tragic; that someone actually wrote and published a how-to manual for abusing a child, that it's gaining a rather sizable following because it's theoretically a "Christian" method of child-rearing, or that children have already died because of it.

OK. I'll just throw in my two cents since Charmaine's done a bit in the entertainment industry and I'll address this in that vein.

Until that child reaches the age of majority or is granted legal authority in a court proceeding to make their own decisions, it is completely up to the parents on whether they'll accept a role for a child or not.

The craziest role that Ray and I allowed Charmaine to take was her playing the youngest wife of a terrorist. I've talked about the movie in other threads and there was no sexuality or sex in this role. She wore a burkha for all the scenes she was in (which she thought was awesomely fun as she pretended to be a ghost on set). We were concerned at first until we met with the director and producer and they explained her role and we saw the storyboards and the script.

Have we passed on offers? Oh yeah. Charmaine was not about to play a younger Tila Tequila even though she wasn't going to be in the rest of the project, the finished project that Charmaine would have seen was just way too much. We've passed on some seriously weird projects that would have piqued Usagi's interest too much.

Have we met stage parents that really don't care about the welfare of their kid and take any project so they could earn money or credit? Yes and it's heartbreaking. I've seen kids that get so much pressure during an audition that they break down and all you hear are the parents telling them that they HAVE to do this. The only time that I've put my foot down on Charmaine having to do something is because she was offered the part, she decided she wanted to do the part and then she changed her mind later because she was missing out on something fun on a weekend.

Charmaine's aware of how the media and the entertainment industry portrtays things and we've had a open line of communication if she wanted to ask about something she saw in a movie or TV but quite honestly, unless it's iCarly, Hannah Montana or Wizards of Waverly Place, or 24, she's not very interested in watching anything.
