Hugo was my daughter's first hurricane, though by the time it got north to us it was just a windbag without any punch.
They have yet to experience anything like the damage Agnes was when I was a teenager. My sister house was just above the flood waters in Ellicott City, MD.
Ivan left me stranded in Pittsburgh, Pa for 2 days, as I waited for the flood water to recede below the rail tracks in Harrisburg. I was actually on the last train to make it into Pittsburgh, when it started to flood. My friend who was picking me up had to make several detours to get to his house and my hotel. After the rest of our friends were able to leave by plane or car, I ended up sleeping on his futon for 2 nights.
My sister who works for Amtrak check the passenger list of all trains going to Philly, so when I finally arrived in Baltimore, she had used her ID to come on board and help me off the train.
