I'm bored, people. Have a fairly good lookin' weekend ahead. Cooking Indian dinner (samosas, Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo) for friends on Saturday night so tomorrow night will be prep/wine drinking galore. Sunday will be hanging with the family and kissing my chubby baby to death.

Good times.

Friday, work.

Saturday, work.

Sunday, apparently we're going down to Westchester for my mother-in-law's birthday, which was really today, but we didn't go because of the onslaught of torrential rain and massive flooding.

Wait.... you can pre-empt Dooooooom???? Since when?????

Lets see, I get to go to the dentist tomorrow. yay. After that, some more sod installation in the yard, a few more plants to plant, and about eleventy billion tomatos to pick. That and some edging to install still. Once I get all that done, more garage cleanup.

Saturday heading to the farmers market, and things like that.

Sunday, Civilization V dominion all day!

My in-laws are visiting, so I'll be eating too much. My daughter is home also. We're gonna go check out tattoo studios tomorrow.

All that big rain that's been hitting the east coast, hits us tomorrow. It's warm and very very windy right now. Kinda weird weather.

Kao, get a good leather couch. They're the best.

As long as it's not somewhere that gets direct sunlight in the summer.

And you're not in the habit of sitting in the living room naked, watching TV and eating Cocoa Krispies out of the box after pouring milk directly into the bag inside.

Saturday: Photographing.
Sunday: Photographing plus a birthday.
Monday: Other random **** that needs sorting out.
Tuesday: Rest, I hope... Or rather, I'd better. I haven't had enough rest in the past few weeks and it's not doing good things to my mood, energy or motivation.

I'm prepping my window to be replaced as it's finally arrived.

Other then that I'll probably spend a bunch of time looking at different SLR cameras and trying to decide what I want. Any suggestions aethien?

I got it from JCPenney. Slightly more expensive than Ikea, but much higher quality, and it's fairly simple in design (I don't like the super new-age stuff). Leather is also a no no for me.

Let's see. Tonight, I'll probably drink a little alcohol and play video games with my husband. Maybe some LOTRO, maybe some Minecraft, maybe some Civ V. Sky's the limit.

Tomorrow, I'll sleep in as late as I can, do some weeding outside, maybe play catch at the park, then more video games Saturday evening.

Sunday is my domestic goddess day. I hate Sundays.

I'm currently waiting for another roofer to come by and give us an estimate on a new roof. Jonwin made arrangement for 2 to come by and look at the roof and, the one that came by yesterday when the rain stopped, is going to come by with a quote today.

He didn't need to look at the roof, as he did our neighbors roof and knew what to expect in way of damage were the old tin gutter rotted away causing the major leak that, we had to put off repairing until we had money for repairs.

Jonwin has off work tomorrow and the Loading Dock is having a sale on paint, as well as workshops on doing major house repairs. It's like home Depot but with a lot of old kitchen and bath fixtures, excess building materials and junk.

Sunday, I am thinking of maybe going to the Renfaire for Celtic weekend. Though if I go with my daughter the bubble fairy, I will end up having to get up early and stay all day, until she can leave after closing.

Since we did the Disneyland trip last weekend, this weekend is nothing but catching up on housework, yardwork (weather permitting) and pet stuff. My animals seriously need grooming.

When making your decision, have some consideration for the poor souls who have to deliver it to you. If you're going to get a leather sectional with a fold-out couch and dual recliners, then make them carry up three flights of stairs, and take away your old ratty piece of shit, at least tip em enough for a cup of coffee and a beer after work.

Seriously. A good entry-level DSLR, even by one of the big two (Canon or Nikon) can be had for well under $1K these days.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

And that's from BestBuy, which is overpriced as hell.

As a general rule of thumb, don't buy any piece of furniture you wouldn't be willing to move yourself. I suppose this rule become a bit less mandatory once you've purchased your own home (but only to the degree you intend to live there for the rest of your life). I helped a lot of my friends move when I was younger, and there was nothing more irritating than someone who lived in an apartment who'd purchased (or otherwise obtained) some ridiculously heavy piece of furniture for no apparent reason at all. By the time you've moved someone's heavy furniture for the fifth time you've long since stopped admiring the higher quality and whatnot and gone right into "If you can't afford to stay in one place, don't spend money on heavy/expensive furniture dork!" territory.

Since you're semi-permanently settled, the moratorium on solid oak furniture and whatnot is somewhat lifted, but I'd still keep the rule in mind anyway. Oh. And don't *ever* buy a movable granite tabletop. No. I'm not freaking kidding! I'm pretty sure I popped a few disks on that one...

At the Frathouse I lived in for a few years, one of the original tenants had a large sectional couch to move in. It was not in exceptional shape back then, and being on the second floor (with two narrow staircases to get up) they cut it up into three pieces with a chainsaw to put in. When the house emptied out, some nine years later, the couch was torn apart and tossed out the living room windows to the sidewalk below for garbage collection. *That's* how moving is done!
