Looks like our vacation this year will be in Vegas from New Years Eve to Jan. 7 th. since Jonwin had the winning bid at fund raiser for the ship last weekend. for $600 he won us 7 nights in a The Polo Towers suite for up to 6 persons. We are inviting friends or family willing to help with some of the costs. Jonwin has place it on me to check out airfares, a task I dislike very much, but then don't think he would like the thought of driving there, during early winter.
It's been years since I been there on layover to San Diego or driving cross county. I'm not into big resort towns and other then driving to the Canyons or seeing the desert landscapes had no interest in seeing much more of the Vegas. Jonwin never been to the southwest deserts so I hope we can spend some time outside of the city. Otherwise I have no idea of what to do in Vegas, that doesn't mean putting up with casinos. shows or large crowds of tourists. Living in the DC area has sour me on big touristy crowds so much that I only go to National parks off season. Even when they aren't being stupid Americans tend to be noisy.
IF the ship goes into dry dock, we might be able to try to see at least one national park. I can get us a Golden Eagle Pass with proof of disability, and last year we had talked about going to a couple parks, while the ship is in dry dock. He's never been to the Grand Canyon which is my favorite of all the parks I been to so far.
Hotels are for staying at during conventions or when there isn't a good place to go camping nearby in my opinion. Jonwin is the gambler having worked at the racetracks as a money counter years ago. Neither of us can camp in wilderness areas like we used to, but anywhere I can take short walks or use a wheelchair seems to be okay, as long as I get some nature in and we both can visit a museum or two.
