I soooo want to see Avengers. There's a couple friends I want to go with, since we made a pact of sorts years ago when the first rumors of said film project started. I'm not sure if we'll be able to coordinate a viewing this weekend though. We'll see. My best friends wife's cousin just had a baby this morning (which sounds relatively remote when I write it down that way), so it's possible that they'll both be "busy" with family stuff this weekend, or it's possible that she will and he can join the three amigos on an Avengers run whilst the women folk talk babies and whatever it is they do. Never know.
Aside from that, my mom's church was selling a bunch of raffle tickets for some sort of car show on Saturday. I bought some (cause that's what you do for your mom), so I might just swing by for a couple hours and check out the cars that are there. If my mom's around, I'll swing by her house and hook up her digital antenna that I bough for her like a year and a half ago, and which apparently is still sitting in the box cause she wasn't sure how to hook it up (why she doesn't tell me these things, I don't know). I'm always a bit hesitant about doing stuff like this because inevitably there will be something wrong with her computer, and then there's this thing, and that thing, and pretty soon I'm explaining to her why she can't do certain things over her dialup connection that she's used for 15 years. But I'll do it anyway, cause that's what you do for your mom.
Oh. And it's finally not like misting and thinking about raining like it's been for the last 2 weekends, so a good car wash is in order!
Sunday will be slack day. Yes. I should be cleaning the house, but I'll probably stop at laundry and maybe doing a quick clean of the bathrooms (they kinda need it). I should really get the carpets steam cleaned or something, but my grand plan is to just replace them with hard wood anyway, so they still aren't cleaned. I should really get moving on that too. Sigh...
Sunday night is table top RPG night. We've finished with the ancient temple of ickiness and have now traveled to some other plane inhabited by tons of vampires (and werewolves apparently). Thousands of years of this and all the people are totally subservient to their vampire masters (who presumably keep them around for food). No one has any weapons or skills to use them and no one knows much beyond the village they live in (that we've seen so far). Makes the whole "pop up in a random place and then find some magical sword held by some powerful bad guy" kinda difficult when even the folks who'd like to help us out can't give us directions better than "there's other stuff we've heard of beyond the forest and the mountains". Gee... .thanks guys! I think we'll just go kill your local vampire lord instead. Maybe he's got a map or something. So much for our low key approach...
I'm also a bit concerned about the whole plot of what we're doing. So in ancient times, there was this powerful vampire god guy. The folks back then used magic to open up some portal and suck him, his army, and a large number of their own army into this other plane (and I'm hoping some of their descendants are around, but they're probably "beyond the forest, over the mountains... somewhere"), from which there's no return (supposedly). So there's another bad vampire guy, and he's found this magic urn that he can use to summon this super bad guy to our world. He's been filling the urn up with souls (which appears to be the requisite for this sort of thing) and there's nothing to stop him now. There's one weapon that can destroy the urn, but it was wielded by the leader of the army for the evil vampire god and got sucked into the same plane. So we're basically traveling to the very place where the main bad guy is and then returning with the weapon needed to stop him from returning as well. But what's to stop him from just say following us out? We used the equivalent of a magical stargate like thing to get here (just need to know the correct combination to open a portal). We had to teach that combination to some natives (the ones we helped by clearing out their old temple) to get us here, and we have some magical communication mirrors we'll use to tell them when we want to come back. But we know the minions of the bad guys know we're heading this way. They already intervened to send us off course once (changed out travel plans so we ended up a thousand miles or so away from where we wanted to go). There were indications at the portal thingie of a recent camp. What if they're just staking the place out and watching to see the combination and then after we leave, they'll just open it up pick up their buddies and come streaming out in a big ol vampire horde. Hell. What if the whole urn and magic sword story was just made up to get us to do this? Well, that would suck, wouldn't it?
Hopefully, that's not the case (or we can prevent it from being so). After all, we got the combination from the Goddess of Fate, Prophesy, and other "I can see everywhere and everywhen" sort of stuff, so if she's in on it, we're kinda screwed (or it was just meant to be I guess). Steadily marching onward I suppose!
