I don't eat at many fast food joints much anymore, but I had noticed that it's getting to the point that they really aren't any cheaper than the better one-off places.
yeah, I mean here it is different cause everything is pretty equally expensive but in Vancouver I could never ever ever see a reason to go to some crappy chain place when I could get an awesome bowl of prawn wonton soup for 5 bucks, or a 18 peice sushi combo with miso soup for 6 bucks or a falafal for 3 dollars, or 5 samosas for 4 dollars or w/e
I have a friend in Vancouver who swears it is cheaper to eat out than at home. She is right, at least, that it would be more expensive for her to make the sort of food she orders than it is to buy it from a restaurant - though the fat/salt/msg content would be better in home food...
I don't usually eat at fast food places, period, mostly because, well yuck. I do love having a burger now and again but we have really nice, delicious places where one can get a burger... so I see no need to spoil the burger experience with crummy multinational brands.
ALSO: I absolutely HATE restaurants that serve pre-prepared/frozen food. It's an abomination. If I wanted a frozen supermarket burger, I would buy one myself (yuck, I never do that... LOVE my homemade burgers!) - It's enraging because it if I knew they were going to serve me such slop I'd never give them a second glance. It's just so depressing when you try out somewhere new, pay 16 bucks for 3 tiny little seafood sliders on TERRIBLE buns and the patties are clearly frozen/preformed. SO FAIL.
