If Kevin Costner's "Dances with Bovines" is any indication, I would go with terrorists.
On a hooved note, we have a trailered water tank (500gal) with a pressure washer on the flightline to spot wash the aircraft. As far as I can recall, it's always been called the water buffalo. However, it's name got changed when we deployed for the first time to Saudi back around '96. The squadron I with at the time was called "The Fighting *****". The nickname was granted back during the beginning of WWII. The mascot was designed by Walt Disney Studios, one they still use today.
Normally at home station, the various radio callsigns begin with the squadron color (ours is red) to keep confusion down since numerous units use the same net. So Produciton Super would be Red 1, Crew Chiefs Red 2, etc. However when deployed, units would use their mascots as part of their radio signs (you may arrive at a location with other units that could be the same color as yours). Listening to radio chatter you'd hear things like "Eagle 1 Bat 2" "Go ahead Bat 2", etc. Ours of course changed to ****.
And so, the water buffalo became.... yeah, I'll leave that one there for you to figure out.
Oh if your curious, This was the unit.
