This guy has been living in a make-shift camp in the Maine woods for 27 years. He's been living off other peeps for the most part, burglarizing camps and cabins. This is a story from 2005 about the Hermit. He's been rather successful - probably because he's not been greedy.
Last week the Hermit was captured. He looks like an Asylumite doesn't he?

Christopher Knight went into the central Maine wilderness 27 years ago. He built a hut on a slope in the woods, where he spent his days reading books and meditating.
There he lived: re-entering civilization only to steal supplies from camps under the cover of darkness. During those nearly three decades, he spoke just once to another person — until he was arrested during a burglary last week

I don't really like talking to people much, but man I think I'd have gone pretty nutty having no conversation at all with other humans.
Edit - Oops - here is the breaking story of his capture.
