I was perusing the ADHD reddit forum when I stumbled across this awesome app I know many of you would probably get a kick out of. It's called HabitRPG and it turns bettering yourself into an MMO. I originally thought this would be cool for Xavier, but I created my own account and it's actually a lot of fun. Very interactive, decent active community, it blends getting better at things you need to work on with leveling up, rewards, questing, and challenges. There are even guilds you can join
Basic premise is you list out habits you want to add in to your life, or improve on. You can also add tasks that may not be daily, but things you have to get done. You choose each items difficulty, changing the health, xp, reward net/loss for completing them daily. You lose health, xp, reward if you don't complete them daily. You then can choose to make individual rewards. For example I said that a glass of wine was worth 5 gold, and an hour uninterrupted was worth 30. I can cash in the gold I earn for my reward. But you also earn gems, which allow you to buy armor, weapons, stats, mounts, pets, etc.
Challenges are player made and anyone can accept. Challenges can be anything from running a 5k race to trying something new each day. If you accept a challenge it's added to your daily task log. And you can form parties to do quests.
I think we're going to get into this as a family, use it as an interactive sticker chart. All of the boys are gamers so they'd love this. And with ADHD myself, this could be one of the most useful tools for myself. Thought I'd pass it along!
