I'll admit. I'm slightly confused... the address isn't enough for them to deliver the mail? Admittedly I've never lived in an apartment building, but I'm assuming the mailboxes are addressed by room number, no?
You'd think it would. However, more recently post offices have been requesting that people tape some kind of piece of paper in their mailboxes with the last names of everyone who lives at the residence. In theory, it's so that they can more easily avoid delivering mail from previous occupants. Not everyone fills out a change of address card, and even then they need to know the names of the folks who live there, so they don't accidentally forward it on to the new address of the previous person.
In practice, I get mail in my box from people who live down the street, in a different unit in the same complex, same number but a completely different street, etc. And different names don't seem to matter one bit. The guy actually walking the route is kinda the last check to make sure the right mail goes into the right box, and I doubt they spend much time at all checking the names on the mail with the names on the boxes. Hell, as I mentioned, they don't seem to check the addresses either.
