Uh, go Blackhawks!
Here's a memory. I was 20. Me and my bff were big North Stars fans - like groupies. For the play-offs we flew down to Chicago (from Minneapolis) to watch game 5 of the finals - Blackhawks v Stars. We didn't have tickets. We stayed at some cheap hotel and took a taxi to the old, scary stadium. The cab driver made some crack about having leveled all the buildings in the area so at least you could see them coming. I think he was trying to scare a couple wide-eyed suburban girls. He also said there'd be plenty of cabs at the stadium after the game. There wasn't.
We got standing room only tickets. The game was crazy and had to be stopped like three times. People were fighting and a whole section of the stadium fell down. We had to quit cheering for the N. Stars at some point. Also we lost.
We jumped into some guys cab after frantically phoning cabbies all over town and miraculously found our way safely back to our hotel after the game. The happy ending is the next day we had a lovely time in Chicago. I still have a mug I stole from D.B. Kaplans at the top of the Willis tower (maybe??).
