Incidentally, I'm curious on how other people play...
Initially it was basically a multi-generation construction project. I'd stick with one family however long it took to get their house to look the way I wanted, then jump ship and start over. Then playing homeless sims came up in a thread here, so I had to give that a go. Then it was mostly living through gardening and seeing where that took me. That led itself nicely to entirely doing without modern conveniences, and that transitioned to the whole fantasy thing and witches and faeries and such. That's when I dropped the money for the expansion, and the town with dragons, and some other stuff.
There was also a "see how many kids one sim can have" side jaunt I went on for a while. Which resulted in most of the town being related to the one promiscuous sim, and the game getting really laggy and crashing. So now I try to keep things to a more modest 10-15 children.
One of these days though I'll have to take all these sims I've created and populate a whole town though, that sounds like fun.
