9 hours of my weekend was a road trip home. I ended up stumbling upon a driver who was being an ***. Not exactly sure what he was thinking he was doing.
I came up on a couple cars, not really thinking anything of it, but I noticed that the car in the back switched lanes, and the car in the front instantly followed. And did it twice. So I cautiously passed the pair, thinking maybe they knew each other and were **** around. As I passed the guy in the front, I glanced over and he was staring at me. Thought it was strange, but what ever.
I hit the gas and sped up a bit, doing about 82. I get a bit away from the pair and the guy that was in the front speeds up, overtakes me, moves in front of me, and slows down. Rather than play his little "Haha, I'm in front of you" game I just slow down and stay in the same lane. Eventually the guy that was stuck behind him overtakes us both (as expected). And as soon as he gets beyond us, the guy in front of me speeds off, whips around the other guy again, and slows down. I decide to keep my distance, and watch as this guy keeps **** with drivers. Anyone that passes him he speeds around, hits the brakes, and then forces them to stay behind him.
This goes on for miles, and about 15 minutes later we are in some heavy construction zones around Chicago, and I see flashing lights come up in my rear view. The cop is stuck behind me cause I'm trapped on the side of a truck. Eventually I am able to get out of the way and lane clears to allow the cop to reach the offending driver. As he does, the original driver I passed who was being harassed has his window down and is motioning the cop's attention toward the car with the a$$hole driver.
The cop gets up behind the driver, his lights turned off now, and follows the driver for about 5 minutes, then flips his lights on, and a short time later has the guy pulled over on the side of the road.
There was a big cluster of people he was harassing, since his antics had not allowed numerous cars to pass and there were a large number of trucks in the right lane. I notice a few of them clap as they pass.
I guess someone called the cops on his while this was all going on. I am assuming the original harassed driver I saw, since I saw him motion the cop toward the offending driver. Not sure what the cop would get him for... Reckless Driving maybe?
