Atm, the suspected gunmen are held up in some warehouse in Paris. Presumably they have a hostage. Also, there's something going on with another hostage situation. Not sure what's up with that.
I heard on the radio something about a stand off, but there's a school nearby and
they've agreed to do no shooting until the school's been evacuated and then they're going down, guns blazing to become martyrs.
So don't evacuate the school for a few days. Even martyrs need to eat drink and sleep :).

You have a hard time building up the required weapons/resources when the government can sweep in and confiscate the items.
You can buy it with your ice cream in the US. The US has the same shootings they're just homegrown terrorism and not reported us much or in the same light. Every society has their crazies, we just don't have enough automatic weapons in Canada for them to get far enough to be news.
Smash is both right and wrong. People will latch to anything that makes people they don't like "them" and religion IS a convenient excuse. Religion isn't just an excuse though, it's a reason, a direction for weak minded people. If you could magic religion away the world would be a safer place. Religion eliminates the consequences of these types of actions because everything you've done is irrelevant when you meet your maker and he pats you on the back for blowing up a school full of toddlers. Of course, the vast majority of people in any religion are not about to kill someone and are likely decent, if deluded, folk.
Without religion the violence would be recognized as senseless by the peers of those who commit it and as such would not be condoned in a group setting as is necessary to plan an attack like that unfolding in France. Those people were killed specifically because they insulted a religion not because the people doing the killing just felt like shooting some people that day.
