Sure, why not.
After a bit of reading, I've actually determined that sex robots, no matter how well made and realistic they come to be, would actually be even worse than having no sex robots at all as far as deadly mass shooting are concerned.
As it turns out, it is not by lack of simple sexual release (which is all these robots could offer) that causes a suicidal shooting rampage, after all. (Well, duh). Feeling intensely suicidal myself this morning, I read a bit about
why people tend to get to that point in their lives-- and as Professor Stupidmonkey pointed out earlier in this thread, it describes 99% of people on the internet! The United States in particular is crawling with veritable time-bombs of hapless male loser arch-types! A sex robot is not a substitute for the emotional and physical connection that comes from being with a real woman (or man, if you swing that way.)
Paired with the ease of access of internet ****, sex robots would do nothing but further increase the expectations of hopelessly undesirable young men. Aside from being simply suicidal, what actually causes a shooting rampage? Suicide, interestingly enough, is not as easy as most people might think. Only about
one out of every 30 suicide attempts is actually successful. A suicidal person is often deterred from killing themselves at the idea of merely becoming injured and laying humiliated in a hospital bed instead of dead. Another problem is when a suicidal person REALLY WANTS TO DIE but their natural programming dictates that they cannot self-terminate no matter how bad it gets. It suddenly becomes a lot easier to commit suicide after you've just killed 27 other people, however! For example, if I still had access to a gun, and a police(or possibly some other intruder) suddenly came into my apartment for any reason at all, I would almost certainly feel cornered enough to feel motivated to use it on myself. The "fight or flight" mechanism is an easy way to overcome the "cannot self terminate" one.
I really hate to go there, but one other possible cause for these types of situations is the decline of organized religion. People often argue that they aren't going to out and commit heinous acts of debauchery and crime just because they don't believe in a God, and that's true. You don't need to believe in heaven or hell or any sort of afterlife reward for being good to do good things and be a good person. The trouble is, we now live in an age where most people can be assured without a shadow of a doubt that there really ISN'T any consequence for committing acts of evil if you're just going to die anyway. So instead of quietly killing yourself and immediately being forgotten, some people opt to go out in a "blaze of glory" so they might feel alive for once during their last few moments and so that they might become immortalized and celebrated and sensationalized by the news media for decades to come-- all while making it infinitely easier for them to achieve their personal goal of suicide.
So, we grapple over all these ideas over what to do about it, and ultimately nothing IS done and nothing changes. Nobody will admit it, but the ultimate cause of this problem is the abundance of losers. Unwanted, undesirable young males-- awkward, fatherless and unemployable. Gone are the days where every man could get a job and build himself up, buy and car and own his own home. Today we need people who are disposable who live humiliating lives for the sake of convenience and profit, or they're just not needed at all. Of course they were all rejected by women, they literally have nothing to offer them or anyone. I guarantee, if perhaps we had some Futurama-esque suicide service that could promise a clean and efficient and painless escape from life that these people would opt to use it instead of shooting up their place of work or school. It could be like a late-late-late term self-abortion.
