In actual news, the Confederate flag is back, this time in a county in Tennessee. While not interesting on the surface, it turns out that according to several Tennesee historians that are totally on the evil liberal payroll say that the county in question was actually Pro-Union during the Civil War so the whole "because heritage!" line doesn't particularly resonate. Also in a great show of groups eating themselves, the Westboro Church is protesting against Kim Davis over her being a hypocrite and an adulterer, basically calling her a false prophet.

Well, not quite.

I think that's when the fun really starts.

Anyway, the county in question whose name I can't remember voted 20-1 against putting the flag up, so I imagine there is going to be some gnashing of teeth about how they've failed the people and how their nonexistent heritage matters and they're not enough/too much and should be fired in favor of new people and blah blah blah.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police are asking for the public's help as authorities try to identify and find an assailant who shot and killed a 4-year-old girl on an Albuquerque freeway.

The shooting about an hour before the start of evening rush hour on Tuesday was the result of what Police Chief Gorden Eden described as an unexplainable crime brought on by road rage.

Interstate 40, the highway where the shooting happened, would have been heavy with traffic at the time the shooter opened fire, he said.

"We have absolutely no suspect information at this time," he said. "We need the community's help. You had to have seen something. Please call us."

"The cars were both moving westbound when one car pulled up against the other and started firing," said police spokesman Officer Simon Drobik.

Well, when you have 80-90% of the country in favor of federal background checks for all gun purchases but it's blocked by politicians bought by the NRA and voted in (via primary) by the more strident ends of the party, you sort of lose faith in anything better coming along. I guess political jabs are easier than dwelling on the murder of a 4 year old girl and knowing that her life was just another chit in the Second Amendment Freedoms pile.

Another red blooded American exercised his 2nd Amendment right to murder preschoolers yesterday.

Something similar happened to my family once. Instead of shooting us, the giant white pickup running about 70mph on the highway pulled beside us and attempted to run us off the road with my infant son and tween stepdaughter on board. Presumably it was the Obama 2012 bumper sticker my wife had put on our car that set him off.

Another NYPD officer was killed, so the obvious response is "more guns for everybody". When I suggested gun control I was advised to commit suicide. I'm just gonna sit this out.
