Today as I was getting ready to leave work I noticed a voicemail was left on my phone. I rarely get them, as most people just email or message me these days. I checked it and it was a guy who just left his name, and a number to call him back at. Didn't mention what it was about, or who he worked for.
I did a search for his name and number, and the hit that came up was a professional recruitment place in Chicago. Some place that you higher to find talent for your business.
Now I'm sitting here thinking what will I do if I'm being offered a job...
I know that if I leave my hometown and go somewhere else I could make significantly more than I do now. But on the other hand I make good money for where I live. Close to family (at least, the ones that count). Own my home, mortgage free, and am well rooted in my current job. But... if they were to offer me anything similar to what I do now, with a significant pay increase, I'd have to seriously think about it.
I'd feel bad about leaving the company I work for currently though. Well, maybe not feel bad for the company, but for the people I would leave behind.
Of course, this is all just in my mind at the moment. I'll probably contact him back tomorrow. Never been contacted by a place like that before. I've not had my resume up anywhere, my only copy is about 8 years old sitting on my old desktop PC and very out of date. I've been working here for 9 years, going to shows, handing out my business card to people, etc. Just not sure why I get contacted now.
I guess if it turns out to be anything real, even if I don't accept it, I could use it as a bit of leverage for a pay increase where I currently work.
