Currently, my whm is lvl 6. I know, it doesn't seem like there are alot of options for fun at that level but let me tell you about my day yesterday.
Logged into my Mog House like I always do, checked my friend list and my LS and found both to be rather empty. I figured since no one was on to keep me company, I'd run and do some quests and missions. Now, my whm lives in Sandy, a beautiful city, especially on a foggy night. I pass by a person while I was running some jobs for the cathedral and it turned out, we were both doing the same quests and started talking in /tell. After passing each other a few times, I sparked an even friendly conversation.
<me> You know, if we keep passing each other like this, people are going to start to talk.
<him> lol
<him> dammit, got raped by orcs while being the church's *****.
<me> I'll help you out, what quest you doing?
<him> the food one
So we meet up, I'm lvl 6, he's level 9 and we zig zag down to where the monk is waiting in the tower for his peas. While he's talking to the monk, a goblin digger of higher strength decides to make my acquaintance. We manage to kill it off and rest up for the trip back to Sandy to collect his prize. On the way there, we meet someone battling an orc. Both of us start casting cures on the poor fighter and the vicious orc is defeated. We talk for a bit and it turns out the fighter was doing a quest for the Mayor of Selbina. He wasn't a very high level so I assumed he activated the quest a while ago and was working on it and getting some levels for a job at the same time. I, however, had a theif to catch and after a little talk, I bid them good day.
For the rest of the day, I ran around Sandy, West Ronfaure, and East Ronfaure doing odd jobs for the citizens that were too frightened to leave the city walls. I delivered parcels, I helped a soldier get his ointment, I delivered flyers, hare meat and even brought water to a grave. After enjoying many conversations with NPCs and even going so far as to treat them as real people using emotes and thanking them when they paid me on time, I had to re-enter the real world for dinner.
A few hours later, I'm back in my mog house and ready to help the frightened citizens of San D'oria get things out to those brave enough to venture out into West Ronfaure. Pausing at the AH to see if I'm up to date on my spells, I bump into the same lvl 9 whm that I had met earlier in the day. I had decided when I logged on that I couldn't let poor Tedimount remain in the hands of the orcs and thought that venturing out into Ghelsba outpost to retrieve him would be a good idea. I was still only lvl 6, the fearsome creatures of West Ronfaure had left me to my business for the most part while I ran my errands and knew I couldn't save the dear child by myself.
Standing on the balcony of the South San D'orian Auction House, I shouted to the warriors below me that I would like a party to help me save the dear boy. My call was answered by the same lvl 9 whm that I had helped travel to the tower in East Ronfaure earlier. Gathering a few more people together, we headed out into the dangerous lands of the orcs. Needless to say, I was knocked unconcious within seconds of stepping into the battlefield to retrieve the key from the vodderchief. Altana was kind enough to return me to San D'oria and we gathered a few more people after a few others had left. While standing around talking, we met a very high level black mage and she offered to come with us. Along the path to Ghelsba, we lost a few people because they had other things to do in the city but we eventually made it to the hut with a lvl 6 whm, lvl 11 war and a lvl 66 blm.
The fight was over before I even had time to blink. That sweet little taru blm was more powerful then I ever expected. Afterwards, we all did some more quests about the city together before it was time for bed. The point of this rather long post? It's easy to have fun in this game and meet interesting people if your not worried about getting to the next level or raising the money to buy that uberest of items you've been wanting.
