I've got a full suit of chainmail I'm currently borrowing from a LS mate...

I joined a BST LS a while back and was running around farming with a level 40+ BST who's name I cannot remember and she let me borrow a suit of chainmail..

I forgot to /befriend but I figured, should be fine next time I see her.... and I haven't seen her online since.

problem is I've effectively moved on to EQ2, so I still have my FFXI account but I only log in to check and see if she's online so I can send her gear back to her, this has been going on for about a month or so.... I'd hate to just guess at the name, guess wrong, and give a free gift of chainmail that's not mine to give to someone I don't even know....

sooo the LS leader, (who has also disappeard) is my next option.. should I send him the armor and an email requesting he get it back to her or stick it out as long as finances will support two online games hoping to bump into her one of these days.. ('cause when I see the name it'll hit me.. but my memory SUX)

on the one hand sending to the LS leader seems like the right direction...

on the other hand.. is it really fair to dump the responsibility onto the LS leader out of the blue like that...

:-\

*sigh* so I'm feeling kinda stuck.. but oh well.. suffice to say the addage "neither a borrower nor a lender be..." is quite clear to me now..

You could do a search for this person from the POL main page, under the navigator, where your friend list is accessed from POL. Being able to search using name, server, nationality, even job and level information (combination of some or all to refine search), and once you find her, send a friend list invite from there. Hopefully from there you will get a response and can get a time set up to return her armor.

Check with other members of the LS to see if any of them know the exact name, or if you remember the LS Leaders name, send him a friend invite or message from there asking to respond with her name.

Other than that, I wouldn't say that you should continue to pay for a game with real money to get a virtual item back to someone but for so long. If you can get an answer at least to the whereabouts of the LS leader, and that he is still an active player, I'd say yes, send it to him and describe your situation.

Enjoy EQ2, we'll still be here when you get back. ;)

Edit: Oh yea, borrowing or lending is not a problem, just write down who, what, when, and where... I too, suffer from "what was I talking about..."

Thats certainly a problem.

Apart from the LS leader, who you say has also "gone missing" lately, are there no other people in the LS that you could ask "what was her name again?"

I don't know much about the ways of BSTs, but it seems kind of odd for people in a linkshell not to know who else is in it.

I certainly sympathize with you, not wanting to just "steal/fail to return" the equipment that was loaned to you, but there is a limit to how much you can do.

However, I would try to speak to the other LS members about it, and if the leader cannot be asked to help pass it back to her, perhaps someone else can.
