Hello there! I reached Level 54 the other day, and felt it was time to go get my AH Hat. Well, after some begging I was able to get my Coffer Key no problem for Garliage Citidel.
No, here's the fun part... Opening the Banishing Gates.
I've had to offer people money in order for them to help me. We get to Banishing Gate 3, I'm told I'm taking to long and the people I hired to help warp out on me.
Well basically for that past two days I've been trying to open the Banishing Gate #3. No luck. I've died nine times and I've lost several thousands EXP. The random people I get from Jeuno to help, will not listen to me, chaos ensues. I cannot get members of my LS to help me as they are all asleep by the time I log on.
Anyway, I'm getting very desperete. Can some people out there in Alla land please, please help me open some Banishing Gates? Everytime I go there, it's a disaster.
I've lost two friends and several others are very angry with me, because of it never going well.
Can someone who's done this before, please help me? I'm begging and pleading.... please?
I work nights, but I'm going to try to log on Wensday at 3 PM Pacific. I really want this AF! I am at your mercy, please help.. uh.. /bow

PS> Much Love and respect to Queen of the Bards, Arlenis who helped me out big time during one of my runs. I love you Arlenis!!!

To be honest, I've passed on this AF for a while because it seems pretty damn hard to get, and that even a PT of 54s could be slaughtered by the coffer key mobs. I don't even know if I'll continue with WHM anymore (it's at 56 with Raise 2 learned, Raise 3 is just outrageous), but I can say that I have died every single time I've tried to get past the third gate.

No, there's no NM fight, the Citadel is where one of the two "coffer" AFs for WHM is at (Crawlers' Nest is the other one).

He probably does need a coffer key, though.

OH Fufet! Thank you so much for your offer!
There are no NMs or anything to fight. I've already got the Coffer Key, I just need to get to the coffer itself.
Sadly, the coffer is almost always behind Banishing Gate #3.
In order to open the gate we need four people to stand on the switches so I can run through when it opens.
While it's possible to do this with just four people, five people would probably be ideal. (Just less running for me.)
It would be nice to have some high level people to come along, as in EVERYTHING aggros all over the place in here. But basically I just need three other bodies to hold the switches down. Sneak/Invis is a must. My previous endevours have had deaths all over the place because people refuse to bring Sneak Oils and Prisim Powders with them.
Really, this Coffer hunt is a real nightmare, it's really deystorying my enjoyment of this game. (Did I mention I have people who hate me now because of this?) If this were any other zone, I could solo it. But because I have to have other players with me to open the Banishing Gates...well, it's a problem.
I'd be your best friend forever if you could help me out.

I have done this coffer 2 times now, first was for my AF hat(WHM) and I died 3 times to get to it. Second time we had to escape 3 times and then we got it for the PLD AF(no deaths).

If you have all mages with sneak + invis ur ok, its when you have to do other ppl then it becomes a nightmare.

I just helped someone get through the gates last night. I'm willing to help if I'm not busy. Send a /tell to Praetor.

I'm not quite sure why people hate you because of the gates. Either they did something stupid (such as let sneak/invis go near aggroing mobs or try to recast around the magic aggro mobs) and it's their own fault they died, or you did something stupid (no offense meant here) and you got them killed. If it's the former, there's not much you can do. If it's the latter, you need to apologize and not do it again. To get your AF you'll need to be good at keeping yourself sneaked and invised. As a whm, you have access to both spells and the corresponding items. If someone is helping you for no gain for themselves, you need to realize that they don't have to be there and thus you are obligated to make the endeavor as painless for them as possible. This means knowing where you have to go, what you have to do when you get there, making sure they know what they're supposed to do, and then making sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to be doing (including you).

The reason so many people refuse to help is that far too often someone being helped either: 1. does not know what he's supposed to do or where he's supposed to go, 2. does not know how to avoid aggro, thus increasing the chance of death and the length of time the endeavor will take, or 3. is fooling around or is taking far too long to do what he's supposed to be doing. I don't really know what you've been doing, but from your post it kind of sounds like you've been guilty of at least one of the above. Again, no offense is meant, I'm simply trying to help you. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry and carry on. If I'm right, fix whatever you're doing wrong.

The best way that I think to do this is have three intelligent people come with you as level one jobs. Buy them all both a stack of prism powders and stack of oils. If they die you can always raise them and just keep reraise on your self. Naturally you will not be in the position to be able to fight anything, but you do not want to anyway. Just make sure you know to run for the gate as soon as it starts to open.

I have helped find this coffer for others in my LS as well as my own RNG AF Gloves. Send me a /tell if I am on when you do this. I know the routine for the gates and know here the coffers tend to pop.

You could always try what I did: sit in Garlaige at peak times and wait for a party to run through there. JP peak times seem to be best for it, as they seem to pretty frequently be running back and forth...mine took four days for the coffer hunt itself, but I did end up getting through and getting the coffer eventually. If I'm on sometime when you are, though, I'll give you a hand with it (I was hard at work on my homework the other night when you asked our LS ; ;)

The Nightmare is over!
Thank you to Ragingaxe who helped me out big time. (I'm sorry you died, 'bro. Let me know if you still need me to help you with WAR AF1, I'm totally there.)
Also thanks to Dia for shouting a Raise III for me when I warped back to Jeuno dead.
Thanks to everyone else who helped me as well. I'm glad I can finally move on with the game! Love to all of Lakshmi!
